The best custom pickguard for most Musicman basses is clear - shows off the wood.
Now there's a rule around here - NPNB - no pics no bass - oh hang on a minute, we already ascertained there's no bass (unless this is Jack under another user name winding us up!!)

For the record, I did ask for the gold hardware but must have requested it too late.. It was last minute idea.
Don't see why you guys don't believe me. I have some guys sorting it for me now so I'll post pics later once all the gold is on.

It takes 3 months to build a custom model. It was 3 months wait till I got my first one, but like I said, it's a colour that didn't work for me. They came up with as a one off which was indeed a beautiful finish.. I wish I took a photo. Eventually you will see it come up for sale somewhere!! So 3 more months till this model I have in my hands... 6 months later I'd say Musicman have been so kind already and would not want them to do it again. + this looks great but now I'm adding more of my own flavour.
I'm tempted to post a pic of it now with no hardware, because the silver is getting replaced by gold. But I'm starting to find this thread amusing how it was a simple question and has become a doubter magnet instead.
We have come up with a new pick guard design that I believe is simple and complimentary to the whole vibe I'm going for. Tomorrow after we piece it back together I'll post some pictures so you can behold my custom reflex.

Is yours that white reflex? I got a big Al-5 3 months ago too. I really like that bass, such a nice feel. I also got white pearl pick guard.. maple fretboard. Looks great as it is.

Nice to see you're cutting him some slack, keko.
And yes, it is your bass to do as you wish. I prefer to leave mine alone but that's my choice. I usually buy basses that are special to begin with so my mods would probably just mess them up.

How about before you get the pictures, you tell us who you are. You have to be famous (And, I'm assuming European) to get the custom work done. So, please let us know so we can check out your catalog of music.

Who am I? My name is Fagan Wilcox and I play bass / write with Kimbra who is a pop artist better known for her collab with Gotye for the song 'Somebody that I used to know'. But we have our own thing (band). We are just about to do our first headline tour of the US but we are playing Europe first. We have been around America x2 this year with our friends Gotye and Foster the People so perhaps some of you went to a show?. Musicman reached out a few months back and I have embraced them because of Kevin (my contact there) being so awesome. He is the man and has looked after me, allowing me to build my custom reflex and also helped me out with a Big Al-5 for our last tour.

I'm off to sleep now so I'll head into the city tomorrow to pick up my bass. I'm really looking forward to seeing my own spin on the reflex. I'm not a purist by any means, so I'm happy to expriment with what my bass will look like at the risk of it looking ugly to others. I know exactly what I like so for me this process is easy.. and I'm really out to please myself.
