I started on a mission to add a pick guard and this afternoon I screwed it on. No doubt there be haters.. but I'm happy.

Eventually this will be upgraded to a sparkle but for now I'll rock a Cream Pearloid to match the trim.

Actually, ...not a bad idea, I even kind a like it, ...only from my point of view pick guard should follow better the lines of body shape, ...if You know what I mean?

I tried following the lines and preferred this in the end. I aligned the top curve to the neck top and kept it simple but still unique. No other pick guard out there looks like this. My main concern was making the orange look cool as opposed to the pick guard itself.

I'm ordering my finial version from quick guards. But this will do for now.

FYI - Like I said earlier.. There is another one that was made but not to my taste.. has the same neck. I left it with the label in LA and I'm not sure if it has been returned. If you are interested I could ask!

I truly had no idea that this bass could even exist. The Maple Fret Board with the Rosewood neck was the hard thing to wrap my mind around. I need to be more open minded in the future.

I'm not crazy about any pick guard for this bass, but see the direction you're heading. I would agree with Keko that it should follow the body contours more closely.

Again, my apologies.

Someone mentioned the axis guard too which I thought was cool.. but does anyone know if it is the exact same body as the reflex? That way I could order one of those instead and modify from there

Forget the bass. I want those shoes.

Sorry for the disbelief. A first time poster talking about a rosewood necked birdseye fingerboard custom reflex out of the blue screamed TROLL--especially with the instant changes being made.

I've been known to customize my Musicman basses, too (see: daphne blue Bongo).

I think I like the second pickguard better. I guess I had something in my head closer to a Les Paul style floating pickguard with maybe a cutout around the volume knob.

If it were a Les Paul style would slapping be an issue? I considered it but in the end I thought it would look cool, but get in the way. I plan on continually changing my pick guard all the time so I'm probably gonna get a range of options to suit what I wear on stage :)

It's possible. There are so many different slap styles, it's hard to say. But, honestly, if you think it might be an issue, it could be an issue for your particular style.

Consider that your socks match the bass in the picture, I see you having lots of pickguards.

I've just been emailing quickguards.com about a custom pickguard for my white Bongo. So, this thread is officially costing me money.

The reflex HH, the best bass ever... & yall are customizing it as you please, making it all sexy in addition to the ridiculously good tone... but alas I can only play jazz necks...

Some SERIOUS jealousy right here :(

The Axis guitar body shape is similar to a Reflex but it's a bit smaller than the Reflex. I think the pickguard style on the Axis, or something similar to it, would look pretty cool on the Reflex. I don't know how well it would work to start with the Axis guitar pickguard - the pickup holes and such might not work very well - but I suppose you could always try it and see.

Mind you, you could probably experiment with shapes using construction paper and then order a custom one based on what you come up with. ??
