Nice to see you're cutting him some slack, keko. ;)

And yes, it is your bass to do as you wish.

Exactly! ;)

Keko, what you planning to do to yours??

Well, that's "Classified" information so far :D ...but don't worry guys, I will not cut anything, not screw anything on wood or hardware, don't make any electronic mods on it, ...just slight "cosmetic" improvement what should have been done at the first place in the factory! ;)

If a moderator can get himself a custom job, why can't the bassist for Kimbra get his own for crying out loud?? The douchebaggery here is at an all-time high.

;)Typical Red-SAWKS fan...

Sorry if I'm coming off as douchbaggy?, but if I had a custom bass that was one of a kind, I would post at least one pic to show it off. I don't care who you are, and in this day with instant pic uploads, that would be a snap.

Now we're getting somewhere. I was actually listening to your work today if you are on her album.

You have to understand that we get a lot of trolls here claiming custom work who are simply making waves. A first post like yours will naturally be met with a bunch of skepticism. I'll take you at your word as to your identity. I think you'll find a much different tone should you decide to come back.

I alerted the moderators to this thread yesterday to see if they could verify anything, but they have been atypically silent.

We get some famous bassists here from time to time, but they usually announce themselves in their opening posts.

Who am I? My name is Fagan Wilcox and I play bass / write with Kimbra who is a pop artist better known for her collab with Gotye for the song 'Somebody that I used to know'. But we have our own thing (band). We are just about to do our first headline tour of the US but we are playing Europe first. We have been around America x2 this year with our friends Gotye and Foster the People so perhaps some of you went to a show?. Musicman reached out a few months back and I have embraced them because of Kevin (my contact there) being so awesome. He is the man and has looked after me, allowing me to build my custom reflex and also helped me out with a Big Al-5 for our last tour.

Kimbra – “Settle Down” 7/9 Leno | The Audio Perv - There's me with the big al.

I'm off to sleep now so I'll head into the city tomorrow to pick up my bass. I'm really looking forward to seeing my own spin on the reflex. I'm not a purist by any means, so I'm happy to expriment with what my bass will look like at the risk of it looking ugly to others. I know exactly what I like so for me this process is easy.. and I'm really out to please myself.

Europeans get custom basses, oh and mods and family friends? cool! But, we all would love to see a rosewood neck with a maple fb. Kevin, since you set electrolegs up, how about posting a picture.

We owe this dude an apology, he clearly has a bunch of EBMMs and we dont have any clue how big his band is over there... so... congrats on the custom reflex man, we are jealous

Fagan, thanks for stopping in. I was actually listening to the Vows album on the way home from work today. Would love to hear any other projects you have played with. Wish your USA tour was coming to a town i could get to. Nice to see EBMM products in the hands of high profile artists like yourself. Hope all is well. Stick around, you will like it here. JOSH

This is pretty much my exact predicament as well...reading a first post from someone new who is tackling a subject that has been the target of much misunderstanding (IE ordering a custom instrument) is delicate territory. The lack of feedback from mods about the legitimacy of the claim, not having any clue at all about who's behind the electrolegs handle...plus just generally being a crusty old participant of many online forums and seeing the unbelievable stuff people try to pull...is bound to raise some red flags.

I definitely apologize for my own crusty, doubting comments. I also appreciate that you didn't feel the need or desire to prove yourself and that's cool since that shows class.

That said, being new here you probably also weren't aware of the significance of your announcement. I mean....we've gotten a ton of great product announcements from EBMM and some truly great new instruments and options added to the catalogue over the last few years that have satisfied a lot of peoples' requests....but "custom" orders are not part of the offering so....as much as your approach shows class it would have helped to let us know your history up front to avoid all that skepticism.

Anyway....sorry for my sarcastic comments and welcome. Now....I seriously want to see some pics of this bass.

And...as others have said...it kinda doesn't matter who you are we always say "No pics, no bass". :) It's just our way of saying....share the joy...show us what you got!! We're all fans of the gear so we want to see your new stuff.

Cheers.

Not sure whether to be happy or sad that I got here late.

Welcome to the forum, electrolegs. Make it a party and post some pics when you get it done.

No ideas for the guard, but since you have an "in", I would go through artist relations for the gold hardware. Get a set of pickups with gold pole pieces while you're at it.

Fagan... Gold hardware will be great on this one. That neck is insane. We need to get a Bongo in your hands to see what Musicman is all about! JOSH

Sweet bass. Very nice! Congrats on a very cool one-of-a-kind axe. That combination of birds-eye maple on solid rosewood neck is amazing and an interesting idea - especially being that it's the reverse of the norm. The paint finish looks like Jack's special Lamborghini Orange Burst which is also very cool.

Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Josh though....somebody's gotta get you a Bongo (my vote's for Single H) in bright orange, or Dargie Green, or maybe a custom Pearl Purple. The tones are amazing but also....you need to do it if for no other reason than it would go way better with the funky outfit in one of the pictures Tuna posted!! :) If it's Pearl Purple just don't make it a 5-string or else adouglas will come looking for you. ;)

Hmm, ...very interesting color/wood/hardware combo, ...really one off reflex!

It's not my type of color combinations, but all regards for being so brave to do something like that!

WOW!! Fagan, I sincerely apologize for my pictured comments!

I hope you can understand that when you described your Reflex, it simply sounded too outrageous for any of us to believe. Especially since mear mortals cannot get custom basses. You really do have something special there!

I personally think you should definitely go with the gold hardware but I would not put a pick-guard on it. I think the body looks great just as it is!

I hope you decide to stick around here a little bit we would love to see more pictures of the bass and also here some insights to working in the Music industry.
