I was being entirely sarcastic just so everyone is aware!!!

I vote GK all the way. Although I do play through and love my Eden cabs.

B-Unit--

Are you the twin I never knew about?

Lefty trans sterling w/ black pearl pickguard, GK800RB, Eden 2x10 cab here.

(I ruined the complete weirdness by using an Ampeg for my 15, though)

Eerie!

If there is anything lucky about being a lefty bass player is that amps don't care. So there is a huge data base of info and the choices are the same for all bassist. I only mention this because not all brand name bass builders create the same art in the left hand offering... if they even offer a lefty.

I know for a fact that some builders don't have the exact copy of their right hand versions, some steps have to be done by hand.

The EBMM's seem to be of the same fit and finish of their right hand brothers in every way. BP I'd love to hear your insight on what you guys at the factory have to do to give us lefty's these high quality instruments... oh, by the way, thanks for even doing lefty's... I know we are only a small sliver of the big pie chart...

a lefty EBMM fan.

Bass amps

I have an Ampeg BR100R Rocketbass amp, with 100 watts power, 15 inch woofer and 65 lbs to lug around. Its a great inexpensive amp, but heavier than I like.

But i've heard Bag End, Ampeg, Peavey, G-K, and Eden, but the best sound, IMO, per lb is an Epifani UL-502 600 watt amp driving an Epifani UL-210 bass cab. 16 lb amp and 27 lb cab. Unbelievable. My Bongo can overpower the 100 Ampeg, but works great with the 600 watt 2x10 Epifani system.

It's small and light in college and will serve you well long afterwards.

I got a used Eden wT300 2 years ago and it's been a rock. No problem ever...
The thing that makes it is the 3-way parametric, it can make any bass sound good. The 300 is 165w into 8ohms, 300w into 4... Got it for $500 used.

And - I bet you WILL be playing at college. When I arrived at mine, as soon as word got out there was a new decent bassist around, I got calls to audition for several bands. One of those bands still plays occasionally now (many years later) and many of my best friends came from playing. Just play when you would be partying otherwise!

I usually use one of these... but I need to update this picture, there's a MarkBass in da house now, plus my SWR and B-18-N are not in this picture, but usually one of these will do the job.

Fanx! The 1x12 is pretty loud actually, sound good a low volumes too. Did I mention it weighs all of 20 pounds? I can carry the head (24 pounds) and the cab in one trip, with my bass in gig bag on my back :)

The accugroove sees the most action these days, that thing gets stupid loud.

Also on a side note. Ive been hearing a lot of good things about 2x10s. Im beginning to think that would be a better way to go for me, rather than a 1x12. More surface area, plus 10s are faster for my slap stuff.

If i ended up getting a 2x10, my rig would be very similiar to travis's, which i hear sounds killer!

Any suggestions on the best 2x10s? Of course I know bergantino is in the running. The epifani ul-210 is appealing as well. I like the smaller footprint of the berg, as well as the light weight of the epifani. I think footprint is more important for my future livign conditions, though. So im leaning towards the berg HT210s
