Hi folks,

I'm a lifelong Les Paul player who's recently bought his first EB MM Axis (gorgeous natural flametop) and I'm pumped. :) The serial number is G13955. If anyone could tell me the date for my new baby, it would be much appreciated.

I've been lurking on the boards here the last couple of months and wanted to thank you folks for all the informative posts on here that helped me make the decision as to what EB model was right for me. For me, the Axis was the perfect combination: it has the fit and finish and pedigree of my Custom with a comparable balls out tone, but it also has more versatility tone-wise, a trem that doesn't sacrifice tone and none of the back breaking weight of the LP - a definite plus!

It's great to be an EB owner. The hardest part, as far as I can see, is restricting yourself to just one. ;)

Long live rock!

Someone will be along shortly to welcome you to the addiction and date your Axis. Like yourself I sold a Gibson to finance one of my eight EBMM's. I had intentions of getting another Gibson one day but since I started playing Music Man, I can't find a Gibson I even like.
Welcome again and it's great to have you on board

So I'll cover half of norm's prophecy.

To use what has in essence become the mantra of the board, "welcome to the addiction". I will also spearhead the movement that will follow by saying that we want pics! :) Kindly post them in the picture thread.

Jon will get around here in the next 24 or less to get you that DOB for your beauty, otherwise, welcome to our playground! :)

Hi!

This is a great place to hang out and the people are all helpfull and this is a BS free forum :D

I am a recent convert aswell going from playing telecasters( http://www.telemodders.com/l_koprowski.html ) for a few years to a sil which was a great guitar but not for me and now an AXIS ss.

The AXIS ss is actually kind of like a telecaster in a few ways,Probably why i get on so well with it .

Stick around.

Well now....it looks like the saying is getting popular!!! ;) So, as for the "unofficial welcome aboard saying guy".....

WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION!! :D :D :D hehehehehehehe......you have truly chosen wisely in your purchase my friend. Believe me, this will NOT be your one and only purchase...... ;)

As Lew stated, this is a BS free forum full of great people and (in my case) very knowledgable and helpful people.

Now, as dwf said....we need pics!!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome. One thing that amazed me is the number of guys owning Line 6 Vettas in the amp thread. Seems like the EB and the Vetta is a match made in a heaven. I sold a vintage Fender twin I had a few months back and have been running a V-Amp directly into the soundboard of the PA since. Can't switch patches with a one second delay though, so it's time to go amp shopping as well. :D Anyone playing an Axis through a Marshall head?

Here's some pics if I've got the upload attachment feature working properly.

Your avatar looks like a dual humbucker Axis SS. I would have expected someone coming from a Telecaster to be playing the MM90 version. I'd like to hear the story behind the switch--it might help me (a newbie) learn more about the differences between the various types of electric guitars.

Holy S*^T that Axis is beautiful, I've never been much of a fan of flame tops but, well, I think I'm converted.

Welcome to the board! :D

Welcome! I've been thinking about an Axis for a while now as I find myself wanting something that sounds more like a Les Paul. But I just can't get myself to give up my Luke, and I can't afford to have two guitars at the moment. So I'll have to suffer with having just one now. :(

I've got an AVT50 combo. Not having much experience playing the guitar--and not having played with any other amps (unless a Rockman counts :D )--I can't really compare it to other amps. But I had the use of an EVH for a couple of days and played it through my Marshall. My impression is that the EVH sounds warm, and you can get a nice vintage sound, but the Marshall isn't versatile.

(The Axis, BTW, should sound pretty much like the EVH.)

Hope this helps. :)

No Problem,Yeah it has Buckers but it splits them in 2 positions so that you have the outer coils running together and the inner coils running together.
Obviosley(sp?)Body shape is similar and it feels like everything is in the same place as a tele(if that makes sense).
At first i bought a sil spec but it would seem that I am not a strat type person but i loved the neck
I lucked into this super sport when another board member put it up for sale.
I wanted a better guitar than a Fender,i considered a few makes.. anderson, suhr etc... because i like the 25.5 scale length.
The MM has a great neck heel which makes playing my 4 bolters a mission!
The AXIS seems more like a T-style than a LP to me for those reasons.
I have not found a beter feeling neck on any guitar, but i do remember a ZION neck coming close.

Sorry for the ramble,in short the ASS for me has the same uncluttered,no nonsense to the point aproach as a T,but with many subtle refinments.

Anyone else agree?

Van, welcome to the addiction! :D

That's a beee-you-tiful guitar! I too found my way to EBMM from Les Paul land (I had three LPs at one point, and now I have none). Never looked back, me, and it's been a good three years now...

Betcha can't have just one!
