this is just another of the tremendous attributes of EBMM, it warms my heart daily that Luke plays a guitar no different than mine. It makes other companies look so bad. Hooray for EB!

you know, I never hear anyone say anything bad about EBMM, ever. even in my general life as a guitarist and meeting players all the time, everyone is full of praise. yet i constantly hear bagging of Fender and Gibson, even by non-EBMM players.

You are quite correct with this, it's good to know you are paying for the same things as the artist plays, and the regular joe customer is somewhat just as important as the artist who designed the guitar.

There's no way l'd ever buy a Gi%^n, l have tried many and most of them sucked (IMO), and l wouldn't buy one of the signiture model, one of the music stores in my area had a Zakk Wylde guitar, and it was priced in the high $10,000's area, now if l wanted one, pretty much for a Les Paul with a fancy paint job and EMG pick ups, Zakk is a great guitarist and all, but no thanks.

BTW get stories Blue, keep 'em coming man.

YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE!!!!!! :p :p

yep, i played the $10'000 Zakk Gibbo, what piece of WAY overpriced sh*t. heavy as all hell, fret work was not great, and it played like crap. a $10'000 guitar shouldnt need basic service to play well. the two EBMM guitars i've bought new didnt need a single tweak, even after i went from 9's to 11's.

Sorry to spoil the direction of this thread, but if you're gonna bash, you need facts. Actually, the reason you think she got fired ("think"...not "know"), is actually a good reason to fire someone during a probationary period.

Granted, the lawsuit with PRS was ridiculous, but bashing a company for having very, very high standards? Maybe that's why some of their instruments are the most sought after in history, have books written about them, and have gone up in value at an astronomical rate.
Sorry....

Thank you for adding to the thread, you bring up a great point.

From my first couple of stories...there doesn't seem to be much to make strong argument that Gibby was a pain to work for or work conditions were nutty.

Now, I don't think I ever mentioned that I wanted to bash them outright, I just wanted to share my experiences while I worked for 'em. And what I've learned about management, marketing, and business.

All opinions are encouraged...and I have at least 5 or 6 more doozies to write.

this is so true... when an artist works with a company they get one off guitars... where as EBMM when they make a signature guitar... it's the guitar you can buy in a shop. For example... i heard that PRS made Santana 12-13 "signatures" and out of that he was able to pick 5-6 that he actually liked and considered "good"

Now... I saw about a year ago a clinic done by Albert Lee and for some reason his guitar wasn't shipped out or it was lost in the air port or something (i don't remember what he said happened to it...) well anyway there was one at the store and he picked it up and was like... JUST LIKE MINE... and laughed...
he was a great guy... when he was done he put it back on the rack... it was awesome... and i don't belive anyone bought it that night... lol... if i were only smart enough...

i don't know... i wish i would sack up and buy one... i've got an OLP that is pretty savage and it's the distant and i MEAN DISTANT cousin to the EBMM...

I'm tossed though 'cause I play a lot of worship music at my church and i want to buy a Taylor as well... Would setting up the guitar with a Piezio give me that acoustic sound?

Guys

Lets not fight over Gibson in any way.

They do have a above industry average turnover. They do not have higher standards that we do in any dept.

I really dont relate to either Gibson or Fender, but Im glad there here.

lets bring this back to if anybody worked for gibson instead examples of stuff that could get us all in trouble with the suits at Gibson

I had a cousin who worked for Gibson a number of years. Said that the owner was a real pr*ck.
I vaguely remember a couple of brothers bought gibson around 1980 and wanted to restore the quality back after the Norlin years. Are these guys still in charge or has gibson changed hands since then? (maybe multiple times?)
The last gibson I bought was a doubleneck about in '99-'00 and I got a real low price..no way I'd buy what they cost now. I also own a 70's ES345 and used to own a 70's LP standard. Ah, those were the good old days.... 3 styles of LP's, Strats or Tele's. None of this 500 different versions of each nowadays.
No way an LP standard/deluxe should cost more than $1000-1500 either, especially not with those crappy pickups. Does an LP even sound like an LP anymore? Probably not in many many many years.

I won't comment too much about Gibson's business practices except to say that they have really turned around in the past decade or so. I assume they must be doing something right. Except, perhaps, for the whole "lifestyle braniding" nonsense.

The custom shop produced historics are really nice guitars and they have made huge strides in giving them that vintage vibe. Quality control has improved a great deal although they still let the odd one slip through. They could learn a lot from EBMM who are second to none is the quality department. Gibson customer service does leave a lot to be desired and there is no excuse for that.

i was trying to be polite... but BILL GATES is a douche bag and has let everything go to his head. why doesn't he actually fix some of the loop holes in his development and maybe people wouldn't be "sharing" software... honestly the guys a flippin idiot.

I would have to strongly disagree on Bill Gates being a flipping idiot, although he may be a douche bag. There is a reason he is the worlds richest man and you are not.

True! BUT, that guy also gives away a boat load of money to charity, and for that I have a lot of respect for him. Believe me, there are many many more multi-millionaires who give away nothing. Gates should be credited at least for his altruism.

Now as far as Windoze goes.....ughhh...

In 1984 I got Mac and never looked back. In 22 years I have never had a virus or seen a blue screen of death! :p
