im personally a big fan a trans finishes. I like non extreme figuring the most. subtle does it for me. i actually really dig trans finishes on a pretty ash the most

EB has some of the best wood grain out there that I've seen. My vote is for natural/trans/burst finishes.

quilt, sparkles and some of the solids :) Well, I think as for me the most impressive finishes are quilts. I really love them, all colors. They are different each time and are sooooo deeep. I really enjoy looking at pictures of all BFRs since I don;t have mine :)

I gasp when I see some of the curly Maple figuring or some of the tiger stripe tops.
I have always been a "solid person" but love the Black Cherry Bust finish.

So for me it would be solid and bursts over a not to flamey/curly/stripey grain - hope that makes sense???

Depends on the guitar, if i had an ass i would want a flame or quilt, silo spec or luke solid colour.

On MM guitars even southern ash has some figure:

I definitly prefer figure.

I like both really...it depends on the color and the way the finish strikes me. There is no definitive direction either way for me.

I'm much the same...Figured tops generally make gasp in adoration, but the right colour solid (eg Dargie Delight Green) can evoke the same gasp!

it really does depend on the guitar, but I tend to be partial to a lovely figured top.

(and that applies to more than just guitars :D )
