Learn to play classical guitar and you will be fine ! (OK ... wearing a armband is perhaps easier )

Steve Morse explains that he does not like forearm contour because he does not want to have to change his playing position when he switches from classical to electric to acoustic ...
May the Morse be with you

The lack of contour used to bother me as well, since I had gone from playing a Luke to playing an Axis SS. However, I've changed my arm position slightly, and now the A.S.S. is very comfortable. The guitar even sounds better since I'm now picking closer to the bridge; I've a tendency to pick closer to the neck, but for this guitar, I'm getting sounds I like better by moving further away from the neck. So I'm really happy I changed how my arm rests on the body.

I realize today that either that I must be an easy guy

Arm contour is fine, Axis is also fine I'm comfortable with both :p

must admit I have a preference for the AL shape now BUT Axis is still a great guitar to play and abuse

I tend to pick closer to neck too. And really prefer a contour.

Thanks for the input guys, but I think its time for a change,my B-day is coming up and this is a good excuse for me to get another guitar, I will be trading the axis in for another musicman, now I just have to figure out what, going to try a few out today at my local music store.

Very good point about playing Acoustic Colin. Most guys are set in there way of picking so it will probably feel weird changing arm angle. I pick with my hand resting on the bridge and have never had any problems with any guitar no matter the make, that did not have a contour. The only good tip I can give is do not hunch over the guitar, the straighter your shoulders when sitting the better off you will be.I dont understand having any problems with a JP.

Dougie I knew what your answer was going to be.lol

Have you tried adjusting the height of the Strap so that your arm might rest in a more comfortable spot?
