I don't disagree. This is a terrible time for most. My industry is also impacted by significant delays... we are a global manufacturer. Raw materials and materials used in the process of making goods are being held up...

People power is the biggest cause... there are fewer vessels sailing the ocean carrying raw materials and finished goods. The vessels that are moving get to ports and then sit waiting to be unloaded for weeks or months. This is because there are not enough people working at the ports (because of restrictions or they have the virus). Need some thing in a hurry? Airfreight used to be a good option, though expensive. Now it’s almost impossible to get material on a flight because there are so few flights. Those flights that exist are extremely expensive because everyone is competing for that cargo space.

Delays like this echo through supply chains. There is a little anyone can do but communicate. Let’s not chastise each other for saying we should do a better job communicating, setting expectations. It’s One of the few things we can do a good job with. Clearly, we all have access to the Internet and are able to communicate about things happening in our world this goes for businesses also.

Personally, that’s all I asked for above... good communication. It is all I can ask for from my organization... From our suppliers and from our customers. I believe the sentiment in this thread and others is that... we just need communication... so we understand what is happening. Or in this case what we can or cannot expect from our favorite guitar manufacturer. Like I said before I’m happy waiting. I just need to know that I’m waiting for something. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for in these times.

Where is the like button ?? We need to add that back, some of my NOS was inspired by you NGDNY thread.

Things will get better

Just so you know. I 'liked' your post. :D

I totally agree on that button. There are many times when I go to hit a button that is not there. lol
I do the same on other forums of varied topics.
Funny who we've all been trained to want to do that.

Thanks Pete and Sweat for your insight and sorry Dibart if I rub you the wrong way or anyone for that matter. I'm aware my opinion might have come out a bit harsh, however I don't want to attack the EBMM team. I can only extrapolate on their situation and, in this case, I'm genuinely interrested in their decisions and I see this as case study. The reason why is because I work in marketing and business dev. So when we have a problem with supplies and that can delay the delivery we have to find a middle ground somehow. Even though we are still in the pandemic and the supply chains are still affected, in some industries, not all, things a more stable. You still have to manage the delay but you can have an ETA that is somewhat trustworthy. Again, I know the situation is different for every industry and when you deal with parts coming from different sectors (metal, wood, electronics, etc.) and from different regions in which the politics surround the labour and covid are not the same, it complicates the task at hand even more. But the question is, as how do you let that affect sales ? Many companies relies on the new orders and deposits to stay open because of their lack of cash reserves to absorb their operative costs. Depeding on the extend, that can be a dangereous game for the customers but they need to keep their offering available or at least if they have a decent order book they might able to get financing. So may be the best course of action is to be transparent and honest to your costumers and tell them they can expect some delays, which I don't think anybody that is not entitled will blame you for it as it is common practice now. I think, and when I say this I speak for me and my business, that it's not a good idea to let your customers in the dark and just cut your product line for weeks. I don't think covid excuses the lack of communication. To bring the discussion back to EBMM, they might have excellent reasons why they do it that way. As I think Pete pointed it out, that could be strategy to liquidate the dealer's stock, even though it could be frustrating the dealers that don't have many instocks and have to let a sale go or the customers that would have prefer to order from his local store and now has to go somewhere else or order online. Work aside, looking at this as a fan, I'm incredibly excited for what is to come, whenever it will come. I'm sure EBMM will come out with some stunning guitars as they always do !

My guess in not announcing is to give dealers with existing inventory time to sell those. If I'm dreaming of red but my second favorite blue at the local shop is available (and I know it is discontinued), I'm more likely to go get the blue. If I know red is coming, I'd wait.

Having said that - love my 2017 Balboa Blue quilt my wife got me (let me pick) for my 10th. I'd love to see any of the vibrant reds, purples, or teals I've seen in older builds as options.

Will never happen I'm sure - but I'd love a flatter radius. That's ok. Still the best feeling neck on earth.

I don't like waiting either... but as long as I know there are new colors coming I'm happy. Right now a Friedman Wildwood PT-20 or Soldano SLO 30 is slated to get my 2021 gear budget but a killer Axis or Sabre may change that. If its essential to EBMM's current "Pandemic" business model to hold announcements until later in the year, it is what it is. I am sure the Ball family has considered every option for making the announcement and in an ideal world we would already be bitching about the new color choices.

All I care about is that whatever colors they come up with are light enough to see the figuring of the top through. I bought (and sold) a couple over the last few years from the early 2000’s that were nearly impossible to see through.

The AXIS line has been really neglected for way too long, IMO. The last thing we got was the Tribute line, but that seems like it was 10 years ago already. Would really like to see a new run of trans colors, some solids (how about hot pink, like the Vault JPMM you guys had for a while??) and some koa tops (I know their supplier and they always have gorgeous wood, but it doesn't get used for the AXIS at all), or maybe some other adventurous wood choices. And, hell yes, roasted necks!

Half the time, I forget the AXIS is still even sold any more.

Although the standard line has been fairly plain for a while, the BFR axis over the last two years have been absolutely stunning - just killer looking guitars. Have a flick back through the BFR pages to see what I mean
