I don't disagree. This is a terrible time for most. My industry is also impacted by significant delays... we are a global manufacturer. Raw materials and materials used in the process of making goods are being held up...
People power is the biggest cause... there are fewer vessels sailing the ocean carrying raw materials and finished goods. The vessels that are moving get to ports and then sit waiting to be unloaded for weeks or months. This is because there are not enough people working at the ports (because of restrictions or they have the virus). Need some thing in a hurry? Airfreight used to be a good option, though expensive. Now it’s almost impossible to get material on a flight because there are so few flights. Those flights that exist are extremely expensive because everyone is competing for that cargo space.
Delays like this echo through supply chains. There is a little anyone can do but communicate. Let’s not chastise each other for saying we should do a better job communicating, setting expectations. It’s One of the few things we can do a good job with. Clearly, we all have access to the Internet and are able to communicate about things happening in our world this goes for businesses also.
Personally, that’s all I asked for above... good communication. It is all I can ask for from my organization... From our suppliers and from our customers. I believe the sentiment in this thread and others is that... we just need communication... so we understand what is happening. Or in this case what we can or cannot expect from our favorite guitar manufacturer. Like I said before I’m happy waiting. I just need to know that I’m waiting for something. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for in these times.
