Very cool! Well I'm in San Francisco this week ... maybe I can duck out to San Jose for an afternoon

Edit: Damn, just re-read that. I'll be gone by the time they're here.

Rats! I'm in Atlanta on business Wednesday and Thursday, have to drive right past GC on the way to and from the airport...but it looks like the BFRs won't be there that soon. :(

Hey Phil,
Thanks for the heads up...nothing like driving up store traffic in the summer!
I'll be heading down to San Diego July 6th to see Laurence Juber in concert so I'll swing by both San Marcos and La Mesa GC and hope they're still there!

The JP looks great.

And looking forward to the Lukes arriving.

BFR Bahama Lukes available to order

Yup just like the original one made for Luke, which also had a sparkle back.

Will there only be 10 made of this variety?

As of right now there are only NINE because Fred just emailed me and wants one instead of the PRS he had on order. Not a problem!

If anyone else wants to reserve one through their local GC, just go down there and order it. Our item ID is 104300132. Please pay for it so we know it's definitely gone.

Fred, I'm doing well. Great memories from last years party!

Phil,
Thanks, I just got off the phone with Mike. I'm stopping by tonight to pay for it. It looks like a late July ETA.

Done deal. I stopped by earlier this evening and paid for it.

I went all out and told my wife I'd take her out to dinner, which just happened to be near the GC, and no this isn't the one near Hooter's... Nothing but the best for my honey, Chick-Fil-A!!! ;)

Now the fun part begins... the wait.

Charge extra for the case?

Hey will GC charge extra for the case? :p

Answer: YES

Hi Douglee,

We don't charge extra for the case. When we price an instrument we include the price on the tag. If a guitar doesn't ship from the manufacture with a case or a bag, then we don't include it in the price. If you run into something else out there at a GC, please let me know.

Thanks,
Phil

Hi everyone,

This is Phil Rich, Director of Electric Guitars at Guitar Center. I met some of you at the EB Forum bash in Dallas last year - hope you all are doing well!

We're shipping 15 BFR Petrucci's in Trans Black out to some stores this week and I wanted to give you all the heads up as to where they are going. According to Scott, we're the only retailer to order this particular guitar so let me know what you think when you see it.

Each of these stores will get ONE.

Manhattan
Atlanta
Boston
San Marcos
Hollywood
Rockville, MD
Dallas
Austin
San Jose
Houston
North Chicago (Arlington Heights)
La Mesa (San Diego)
Edina, MN
Phoenix
Central Chicago

They should ship to the stores mid-week and arrive by Friday or early next week. Please let me know when you see one!

Next month we'll be getting ten (10) Luke's in Bahama Blue Burst as well as five (5) Petrucci's in Trans Walnut. If you want to buy one from your local Guitar Center and not hassle with shipping, drop me a line and I'll make sure your local GC gets one up front.

Regards,
Phil

Dude, I am wanting to be in line for one of those walnut next month......

Are you saying you've changed that policy? That's great, because of the 6 GC guitar purchases I've made over the last few years, everytime I was charged extra for the case/bag. The stores were adament about it, like I had no choice. When I spoke to people at a visit to EBMM, they told me there was nothing they could do about it, once it ships it's up to retail to do what they wish.

It's not a huge deal, but to me it's a little sneaky. My last 2 EBMM special orders were thru a local dealer (not GC), low & behold I got a nice hard case included.

Sorry to post something negative if you're now including cases (as intended by the manufacturer).

Happened to me too, in the past, in any case.... :)

Are you sure you're being charged *extra*? The last 3 guitars I purchased from GC had the case listed as a separate line item, but the original price was reduced by the amount of the case.

Price quoted for the Guitar = $1,000

Receipt looked like:
Guitar - $ 900
Case - $ 100

Total - $1,000

The bottom line is that I paid the original price quoted, but the case was a separate line item. Apparently they inventory the guitar and cases as individual pieces and need to account for them separately?

I'm not saying this happens in all instances, but that's been my experience.
