After 5 month and 1 day finally my Single H arrived. It is a beauty AND a light weight. Not sure if this is the different body wood (the black and white are alder) or the smaller electronics and missing pickups. I will testdrive it the next days with my Orange...

I'd love to hear you comparison of the H to the SSS. I find the SSS to have very distinct and useable tone differences in it's various settings. But as BP stated, the SSS does have it's own voice.

Alright, I have been trying to upload some pics of my Big Al Olive Gold Sparkle here from work to no avail.

I just replaced the Gold Swirl PG with a flat black. I must say it looks stunning. I was hoping to share this with everyone but will have to wait until I get home as the network here doesn't seem to want me to do this. I will try and post tonight. Rest assured, it looks fantastic.

Olive gold sparkle with black pickguard

Finally got a pic uploaded. Finding it hard to get more than one. I'll try for more, but you get the point.

My Big Al SSS (Neck/Middle/Bridge) gives me:
:D the absolutely wonderfully unique "Big Al sound" with all PU-knobs out (M & B in series)
:D a perfect Jazz Bass sound with B & N on with both its active and passive variants.
:) a good P-Bass sound (M on)
 an ok Stingray sound (M & B on in parallel)
:( a not quite so good shortscale-mudbucker sound (N on) (how should he)
:( a not quite so good G & L -ish doublebucker sound (N & M & B on)

Does the Single-H Big Al nail the Stingray-sound and the "Big-Al-sound"?
I doubt it has as much charakter as the Big-Al-SSS with all its knobs out, but we will hear your comparison, won't we, stereo_monkey?

Thanks! I know black seems kind-of bland and a lot of us are always requesting the more interesting colours, but for me, it just seems to suit this particular bass.
