The wife and I were talking about life, the universe and everything last night and I was telling her the story of...well, a person, let's not name names, who delighted in torturing me over my love of Bongos.

She was absolutely incredulous. She's not very interested in basses in general, and often forgets which one she gave me for Valentines Day a few years back, but she said, "Who doesn't like Bongos? A bass is a bass to me, but Bongos are BEAUTIFUL."

Jack, you a DA fan too? If so, I hold Lord Bongo in even higher esteem. I think that ranks you just under my dog. High praise indeed.

Has this been answered?
What were you guys doing when you thought of the name?
Smoking a little pot?

"Let's go...load up the bong already!"

(an hour later, a buzz on)
*thinking*
Bong...Bongo...Bingo...Bongo.

Scott, "Hey Dad, I think I thought of a name for that new bass. The BINGO!"
Sterling, "What are you? High? What else you got"
Scott, "Nothing. Pass the Bongo over here, would you dad?"
:p

As interesting and diverse as this thread has been, there hasn't been any mention of robots yet, so it's still a distant second, I'm afraid...

So let's change that... BP how many and what type of robots have been used in the manufacturing of the Bongo? (actually a serious question... knowing that I will understand more about the process after open house)

There, check off the robot box on the "diverse thread" check list and we are set.

Okay, how about a little Bongo related bathroom humor. True story. When my wife and her brothers were little, the successful making of #2 was reinforced with a happy cry of "Bingo!" This, of course, quickly became Bongo w/an umlaut over the first "o". My wife's older brother used to be a working guitarist, but he's pretty much out of the scene. Last time he was over, I took him down into the studio to show him my new Bongo. When he saw the name on the headstock. . . . well, he didn't pee his pants, but he came damn close.

Hey Folks,

I read this thread with great interest because I just got my first Bongo today!! :)

What a fantastic bass. I love everything about it - neck, controls, unique design, balance when strapped on, and oh yes, the TONE!!

Proud papa has posted a picture below.

All this thread has taught me is that there isn't anything wrong with Bongos and not a whole lot wrong with those that play them.

Bongos are what BP crew created.

You think the Bongo is the Van of Bass guitars? Hummer is more like it.

:D :D

Andrew

:D But then it would be a Musicman Hummer.

That's a Mazda Bongo.

The others are a Corvette Stingray, an Oldsmobile Cutlass, a Buick Sabre and, uh, a Sterling.
