The guy that sent the email with the pics is: Darren Walters <[email protected]>

Serial number seems to be G22613 but I'm not sure about that. I've got a picture of the back of the guitar that I'm going to attach. I can only blow it up so far but that's the numbers I get out of it. I hope this helps some!

It's so unusual to hear things like this on the forum, about transactions between knuckleheads.

I guess we shouldn't jump to any conclusions here - let's hear the full story?

Nice one Koogs!

Yeah - it is the same guitar. Serial: G 22613. I've got even more pictures of it - Darren made some close ups and and sent it to me. I have continuos e-mail contact with him. He seems to be helpful and is trying to find the package or start the claim ith UPS. But the owner of the JP Black Sparkle was rmh925 which PMed me as Cesar. He disappeared from this forum. Maybe he just doesn't have enough time nowadays...

To be honest the Black Sparkle JP has been my dream guitar after seeng DT's Metropolis 2000 DVD for the very first time! Love the finish!

Anyway thanks for help. You guys are all very nice!

Me too :D I wish they'd start doing this color again or possibly do it as an LE some year like they did the Blue Dawn. I really wish you well on this and hope that you get the guitar!

Thanx.

Don't let one bad thing ruin buying from another forumite. I have bought and sold a bunch of guitars to and from forumites and the experiences have been nothing but awesome. I just sold a guitar to GrumpyOldMan, he takes delivery tomorrow, hopefully. :)

You'll find that most members are really easy to deal with. :)

If any of you guys who received email from this 'team' know how to forward an email with the headers intact (or copy and paste the headers), feel free to email them to... generic1 at cfacts dot com ...and I'll see if the mail can be traced back to a particular computer.

I bought my JP6 from Phatduck, a very smooth deal.
(Should we have a +/- feedback for buyer/seller here like Ebay?)

I belive I still can trust many forumites and gladly buy guitars from them.
Just be careful with the new member and/or not active.

My experience of buying from a forumite was very positive. I bought a guitar from Larry, and he kept track of the delivery every step of the way until it reached my hot little hands. Could not have gone smoother. I think the majority of forumites will look after you!

I have a story to tell. Might shed some hope/light on this situation. I'm not saying they are identical, but I know what you're going through... a bit. No names though. The deal went through, and I'm a happy man now. I'm glad my earlier suspicions weren't founded. But I thought I'd share the experience, which was a bit harrowing...

I came to an agreement with another forumer here with regards to a purchase of a fine instrument sometime in early jan 2008. the price was agreed, and everything seemed peachy. I said I needed a couple of days before my company's bonus came in, so he agreed to hold the purchase for me. But he did ask for a deposit so he could flip the cash for another deposit he committed on another guitar. So, fine. I sent the deposit the very next next day, because there was some fumble at the bank, and my wife had no choice but to go back the next day. And he got it.

So, about a week later, I sent the rest of the balance payment also by wire transfer. All this while we were in PM contact. I did get his contact details, address and number, and he had mine. He told me the guitar would be shipped out in a couple of days, and he'll send me the tracking number once he got it. But apparently now, his computer had broken down, and had to use a friend's comp to PM me. He said he's going out of town for a few days, and would send the guitar when back. How convenient, I thought.

Fast forward one week. No news. I dropped him an email and a PM, asking what happenned. The worst bit is, he stopped posting on the forums totally at that time, so I didn't know if he was dead or alive. I contemplated posting like this on the forum, but I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. You'd never know. I'd wait a bit more.

Another week passes. We're almost into Feb now. Still no news, and no contact. Now I'm getting a bit worried. I tried PMs and Emails, and still no news. I even tried calling, and no answers. No call backs eitther. But it never occured to me to leave a voicemail. So I waited.

Another week passes. And it's the Chinese New Year (Feb 7th). I had dropped him a email and PM just before this saying I hoped the guitar was on its way, and that it's actually traditionally bad luck for a chinese to owe or be owed something that crosses the new year mark. No response. I called him this time, and left a voice mail. The very next morning, I tried calling, and THANK GOD! He answered. Then he explained to me that he had some personal issues to take care of, and was still out of town. he hadn't been back home for 2 weeks. He was looking after his grandparents. Damn. How could I blame him for this? So I said it's ok. I just hope he keeps me updated at least once in a while so I don't worry so much. At least now I know he's willing to talk to me over the phone, so I don't think this guy is dodgy anymore. Just my luck that he's busy...

Another week passes, and still no news from him. Eventually, I get another PM from him saying he's still stuck, and can only get home the next week. So, I wait.

I called him the week after, and still no response. Maybe the 14 hour timezone difference is really hard to gauge, or he's an early sleeper. I don't know. But at least he'd reply me with PMs eventually. So, this time, I got a PM from him, saying he's home! Just got in, and there's a snowstorm! so he'll try to get the guitar out within the week.

Come midweek, and I get a PM from him. "The guitar is now with UPS, and I'll give you the tracking number soon once I get it." I waited for the number. I got it the next day afternoon, and I imediately checked it against the UPS website. It was legit, and the guitar was ON ITS WAY!!!!!! Yay!!!! Finally!!!!

Now, it's sitting at home, and has become my number 1 player. For all that stress and worry, it was worth it. I felt bad suspecting bad things about this seller, and am glad none of them were real. But half the time while I was waiting, I was indeed worried. But when I foudn out the reason why he was occupied, I relented. Grandparents come first. I would have done the same thing...

So, I think it's worth holding on to hope that something might have cropped up in this situation. For all you know he might have had a personal event or something. But if the guy really has gone underground, then give him hell. heh...
