Just a heads-up to let you know that I'm going to selling my Black 1980 Cutlass 1. I know these don't come on the market too often. Any suggestions as to a realistic price to ask?

Here you are Gav.

Hey blue there is a great self portrait of you in the back of the headstock - the close up shot.

Nice looking bass that. Must sound a lot like my status necked SR4 I reckon....shame no funds here seeing that..... :D

Yes, that looks amazing! Are the Cutlass basses the ones without truss rods?

>>>Any idea why the cutlass I and II were ditched when EB took over?

My guess is that they probably weren't that much in demand. Maybe the graphite neck scared some???

But, FWIW, they're one heck of a darn fine sounding instrument

Hm... Is the graphite so strong that a truss rod isn't needed? I'm freakin' out over here! "No truss rod?! Wwwhat?!" :p

It's got nothing to do with strength, it's all about stability under various temperature and humidity scenarios. Timber expands, contracts and warps with the weather, whereas graphite does not. Hence, no truss rod required.
