This is a bad thing but it's really a part of the internet nowadays. People think they can do everything just because they're anonymous. I do think it's good to have a minimum of posts rule to offer your Ball for sale. The reasons you mention are nothing more than fair.

Well we all know of two forums that run and center on selling and trading gear. As someone who is still in the embryo stage here on the forum let me just say I have bought my fair share of axes overtime off of ebay.

Not until 7 months ago did I buy a guitar on a forum and let me say the whole ordeal gave me a knot in my stomach. First I did not know the guy from a whole in the wall and also the price which was $700 was almost to good to be true. After exchanging a few post I wound up staying up the whole night reading every post the guy was ever on. Then I saw he was also on another forum I went there and read every post when I finally hit upon that the guy had sold 7 axes and everyone had a good word for him did I take his number and addy and pull the trigger. To cap it off it went smooth.

Now on the same sites I will drop in and see Has anyone seen or heard from Mike in Canada or Do not Deal with Fishhead he is a Thief, and Jimmy T I want my Money as you sent me Damaged Goods.

Now the names are all made up but the stories are pretty close to what I see on a daily basis. Then when you read it you find someone sent a guy with 2 post 4 grand for a guitar and his phone is off and there is no trace. I think you have to have really big ones or be a bit slow to send someone a few grand and I have seen cases where guys sent close to 10 grand for an ax to a total stranger and it boggles my mind.

Beej I saw no disrespect in the way you handled the situation and the guy should of just complied with the rules. There are a ton of scamsters on the web and believe it or not the guitar places you can make your initial post be selling a 5 grand imaginary ax is one of the easiest.

Most of you guys here know eachother very well and I have seen guys who have borrowed other members axes so it is a very comfortable way of doing a transaction and I also respect other members who would rather a guy on the forum buy there ax and take less than he could get if he put it on ebay, just so that it stays in the family it dont get cooler than that.

I've seen him on a few other forums as well, always for sale ads. I don't think he really contributes anything other than that for the most part. I believe his sales are always straight up though, I've never heard a bad thing about him.

Don't worry, J. We appreciate what you and the rest of the mods do. Yes, it is a little stricter around here but there are benefits to that. And it makes for a better forum. There are a couple of forums that I used to post on, but now I don't. I've just become a lurker. There are some good guys there and good advice but things get way out of hand. There's a lot more respect for people around here.

i think by having the rule as it is with a minimum post count adds some credibility to the user selling the guitar. as you can get a good indication of what the guys like and how into his stuff he is before you buy. i would be more than happy to deal with anyone from this forum from the stuff ive seen since ive been here.

nice job beej. i hope you werent to polite on your reply pm ;p

Beej...the update is priceless!!! It's amazing that he checked to make sure it was ok to link outside of the forum to sell non EBMM related items...knowing there was a VERY good chance that answer was going to be "no". Now...once he get confirmation it's not ok....then he blows a gasket!!

I guess he feels he should be able to go to anyone's house and sell his crap out of the back door. Interesting grasp of reality he has.

Fantastic stuff Beej, you guy's have all the fun. If you run short with any retorts just let me know I have hundreds you can use. For example " hey mate I've just typed the word Wanker into my Gps Nav and I'm stitting in front of your house so put the kettle on"

you still can't beat Sterlings sense of humour. I was filming Kevin discussing new EB NAMM products and BP was throwing pens at him...
