OK you guys most likely will think this is crazy, but since I am very new to playing a MM guitar and a novice guitarists to boot, and I am always interested in learning whatever I can, curious as to what type of effects people are using to acheive tones with any EBMM.

I use a Pod xt and fbv floorboard.
I don't rely on too many extra effects but I do like the extra gain I can dial in together with some compression and D Delay as and when needed.

The Pod also gives my Marshall a new breath of life making it into a more versatile amp.

I use the Pod through the return loop of the Marshall thereby using the Marshall as a Valve Poweramp.

However a really nice pedal that I have tried over the last couple of weeks is the Boss Blues Driver pedal - great price great tone!

I use a Boss Metal Zone, Fender Blender, Vox Wah, and Deluxe Memory Man, all modded by me - the vox wah doesn't even have any of the original components anymore! I've also got a Siegmund DoubleDrive (stunning little tube pre/OD) on order, and an Alesis phlngr about to be delivered (that one is because it was really, really cheap and it does through-zero flanging).

Oh, I use an Albert Lee SSS and a 1978 Roland JC-120, too - and I rely a lot on the chorus in the JC which is essentially a CE-1 (with MN3004s!).

SansAmp PSA 1 & Alesis Q2 rack units via MusicMan 410HD 130W
(plus a few boxes)

Insignificant compared to some of the rigs you'll see in this forum !

It's been about 10 years since I updated, but this still lets my balls blare!
:)

i pretty much use a Boss DD-3 and Tube Screamer, sometimes a RAT. with the versatility of my balls thats all i need!

Go the ol' RAT ! :)
Found my old RAT 2 in the back of the speakerbox of my amp a couple of months ago.
Was missing for about 15 years !..... I Must plug it in

I love my RAT! My hero Ian Moss uses one, ever since i was 15 ive beee in love with his sound, i wrote him a letter asking about his tone, he wrote back and said "Strat, RAT, Marshall- simple". Dunno about the strat part! But the RAT and Marshall i have covered. Though most Aussies here will know the Moss tone, for others he has a real meaty single coil tone, in the style of Gilmour and Blackmore, and Jimi. Hendrix that is.

A BOSS DS1 goes along way for a little buck. Very cheap and reliable. Had mine about 15 or 16 years and it's never broke once.

I tend to prefer stomp boxes to rack mount stuff. I have a BOSS GIGA Delay as well. You can basically program in 5 different delays but it has the ease of use of a stomp box. It all depends on what sounds you like. Personally, anything too over processed isn't good. You Basically want to start with a good guitar and a good amp. Then basically start building on top of that.

Main effect box I use is a trusty Lexicon MPX G2 box feeding a Signature 284 box. Have quite a few other pedels around and use them on occasion (Digitech GNX 3000 and RP3, Korg Pandora, Behringer V-Amp, Fender G-Dec just looking around the room real quick), but the MPX is more my thing....

Boss DD-3, CH-1, TS-808 Reissue, Barber Tone Press, although since I bought the Ace the compressor really hasn't been needed. That thing will sustain for days.

Lately all it's been is EBMM -> EB VP Jr. -> Amp. The DD-3 and CH-1 just fatten everything up a little.

My pedals.

I try to stay as pure to the intended tone as possible, so my first "feature" if it can be called that, is true bypass. I want my EBMM to sound like it was meant to through my Dr. Z. That in mind, I have a Korg DT-10 tuner for making sure I am always flat (love that Eb tuning!). I have a Diamond Fireburst for my distortion until they send me a prototype OD/Distortion that I helped design! Also, I have a Fulltone Supa-Trem for that lush tremolo sound. Other than that, I am only waiting for the EBMM wah to come out; then I'm done for pedals!

That whole Alesis line of "ModFX" is awesome. I have all seven units that they produced and all can be found very cheaply (on the Bay of E etc) apart from the Bitrman which can sell for a heck of a lot more than the others!

Worth anyone's time to check out if you ask me....

Steve.

I try to keep my sound simple, l use a bit of delay on my dirty sound, l might put a bit of chorus on my clean, l might add an effect here and there, but thats pretty much it, l just go by the philosophy "keep it simple stupid".

BTW Rob, Ian Moss is a champ.

when I do duo work it's a GT-6, otherwise it's wah + double drive + Delay (running thru parallel fx loop with EB volume) into amp

I have a bunch of effects, however they're just there to colour the sound of a great amp :)

90% of my sound is EMBB + Guytron. The rest is a touch of delay, verb, chorus or phaser.

Here is my Board i use my Marshall TSL60 head into a ZInky 2x12 Baltic Birch Cab,I got the Tsl60 mainly for the OD but i play in a country/rock Band so i use the "lead" channel from time to time as well but i am getting a really nice Clean outta her as well and like Beej i use effects to color the sound a bit a Phaser type effect (old Waylon Jennings stuff) ala' Tonefactor the Nebula is WICKED i have a TF MULE on the way as well......my DD-3 is the buffered pedal on the Board which is just set at a nice slapback type echo works well for most Clean and Dirt settings and my Super Duper 2n1 i keep on all the time for my clean sound and use the second stage for a clean boost and man does it sing!!! and i have my TU-2 coming right out of my EB VPJR Volume Pedal Which is the Smoothest piesce of gear i have ever used its like its effortless to move i highly recommend anyone who has not tried them to do so!!

Sorry for the hijack.....I am very seriously considering replacing my Digitech unit with the Lexicon MPX G2. I'd be very interested in hearing your likes and dislikes.
Also:
Do you have the matching MPX R1 footcontroller?
Do you use the G2's ability to put effects in front of the amp?
Are the reverbs really that good?
Do you do any "looping" with it?
