I like the blacked out theme. Its a special guitar so will be cool to have something out of the ordinary on it! Gonna be killer man.

Alright folks, it's that time again. I woke up to another text message this morning from my artist...it read as such;

1moreclear.jpg

I got the color and the 1st coat of clear done. Now I just have to wet sand and clear again. Sorry it's taken longer than I thought. THe weather has been crappy. I'll keep you posted.

It's difficult to tell from the pictures some of what is sunlight and actual paint, but based on what I can see, I'm elated. And it would APPEAR that all of my tedious work on the body has paid off...I can't see any flaws at this moment, where as we could ALL see the bodywork flaws when I first got it.

So there ya have it, fellas! :cool:

Another text message from this morning...

ready4buff.jpg

Final clear is done. Gonna buff it on Wednesday. Should be ready for pick up by the weekend.

It's difficult to tell through the picture (because it's small and a cell phone pic)but around the holes of the pickup selector and the piezo switch, it looks like some of my body work might be showing through, but when I look at the original bare wood pictures of the guitar, AFTER doing the body work, it doesn't match up, so I'm hoping it's just in need of buffing and better pictures.
I texted Dan (the painter)to ask how my body work held up and if it shows through. It normally takes him a little while to get back VIA text message, but I'll post a reply when he does.

but really looks like a sapphire black to me :eek:

Too much outside light reflection, I assure you. I was very specific with Dan about the paint scheme, and I even gave him back the example/sample he gave me to make sure we had an understanding on the scheme.

I have full confidence that the guitar looks how I want in person. I can't wait to see it...though the soldering is something I can do without :D

The paint looks really nice. What type of paint did he use? (sorry if it's in one of the pages already) With Urthane, a bit more curing time will do wonders. It hardens very nicely after about a week.......then becomes so hard, you almost can't sand/buff it after that.

Jack: I'm not sure what paint it is. Dan is generally an automotive painter, so it may very well be some form of automotive paint, but he had mentioned something about having to order something special for the guitar.

If all goes according to plan, I'll be able to ask him later today/this evening when I'm PICKING UP THE GUITAR! :D

I'll keep ya posted... :cool:
