So, we have Raz talking about how he used to wear high heels...we always knew that there was something wrong with you, bucko. :D

Koogs, you ain't got no gov'ment job no more...grow that s*#t back out! Be the hippie we all know you to be...c'mon.... :)

Alright...on topic, my song was mentioned above, which was the Night Ranger song "(You Can Still) Rock in America"...that's just a great song, and Gillis goes OFF during that solo. Good stuff...

Started to learn it way back in the day ('92?), but got intimidated by the solo...and I ran...I ran so far away... ;)

Man I still peg my pants, fold my collar up on my golf shirts and wear fluoresent colors.
I own at least a dozen Swatchs, skinny ties and I still wear boat shoes.

I am stuck in the 80's as my wife says. I have a rat tail as some call it here at work.
Hell BP asked me what it would take to cut my tail off, I had to think hard about that one.
If he was giving a Sparkley guitar he could have cut it off!! Hahahahaha.

My wife threatened to divorce me if I ever cut my tail off, hahaha, she was serious.

As far as music goes, man I was all over the place. REM, new wave stuff to Honeymoone suite, The Call man you name it. I've got tapes with just one song and the band is long gone.

Man remember Box of Frogs??

Madness is still my favorite from the '80s...not just 'Our House'...their best material rarely hit the waves.

I consider Mark Bedford one of my favorite bassists.

Are we talkin' strictly Metal, or will any 80's stuff do? If so, "Rock and Roll Park" and "Cruise Control" from the Dregs Unsung Heroes. No vocals to get in the way.

I wasn't really into "hair metal"...although "Rock and Roll Crazy Nights" by Loudness strikes me as a possible qualifier for this thread.

I was impacted most by Randy Rhoads- any of the tunes on Diary of a Madman, as well as Dave Murray/Adrian Smith and Glenn Tipton/KK Downing- Killers, Number of the Beast, Powerslave, British Steel, Unleashed in the East, Screaming for Vengeance...

--and I still have that commemorative Randy Rhoads T-shirt with him playing that white flying V on the front, and his birth and death years on the back.

I also have an old DRI shirt from my hardcore days in high school

Wow, what a blast from the past this thread has become!

I love TNT. I still think Knights of the New Thunder was their best album though.
Tony Harnell is probably my favorite metal singer of all time.. I have this fantasy band in my head which consists of Dream Theater with Tony Harnell on vocals instead of LaBrie. That would be untouchable. Of course, you could take the original Dokken lineup and replace Don with Tony and *that* would rock, too!

Ronnie LeTekro and that quarter-stepper guitar though.. I could do without that. He's a great player but he goes off on cheesy tangents a lot.

I liked Vito Bratta (of White Lion) on their first album, never heard much of them after that. He has that 'classic L.A.' 80's style.

I like old Great White.. especially the "Once Bitten" album.. who couldn't like a classic metal song like "Lady Red Light"??

I own Steve Steven's Atomic Playboys and even caught them on tour when that album came out!

Brad Gillis was definitely underrated. He owned that technique where ya 'fwap' the whammy bar and make the trem springs shake to get the gurgle sound. In my neighborhood we called thhe technique "Gillis' Shakes"..seriously!

Vixen may well be responsible for the demise of the whole 80's decade. ;) My brother had that album on vinyl! I think Pia Vai was with that band before they got their record deal.

Interesting, I didn't know Pia Vai played. Guitar, I assume?

Steve Stevens totally KILLED on the Vince Neil solo album..

and vito bratta had tone for days...very EVH like...his work on their Radar Love cover is friggin' incredible....the number of techniques he put in that lead without it being oversaturated with notes and keeping it from becomming a mish=mash is incredible

Has anyone mentioned the Crue - I caught them in Orlando last month and they rocked the house - even if Mick couldn't move around that well - I always loved Kickstart My Heart - classic 80s rock.
