I'm not trying to be a downer here, but I'm pretty sure I won't NEED a GC. Would it be nice to HAVE, sure! I just don't think all the sounds are necessary for a part-time musician. Let's face it, as long as the bass cuts through in a live mix, whether it sounds like a P-BASS or a Rickenbacher won't make a huge difference.

If you are a studio guy, then the different tones would definitely come in handy.

On one hand I hear what you are saying. You could potentially stick with one tone and it would be fine. But on the other hand, things might get a bit boring, so varying the tone keeps the listeners ear interested. Also, in a cover band, it helps to nail the tone of the original song easier.

This was part of my motivation to get a Big Al since it has a huge range of tones and this is helpful in a cover band.

You guys gotta check it out when the time comes. I can see this being useful for any musician playing guitar or bass. Even on the simplest level the possibilities are awesome! I'm very proud to be with these guys. See ya at the NAMM booth:D

Well I DO trust you, mostly because I have heard your work, and you obviously know what the heck you are doing. And I am a voracious gear hound, so that factors into things. What I need to know is ( and forgive me if this has been covered, but I've been out of touch for about two months give or take...) ..

How much is this going to run your average bass player?

I need to know what vintage piece(s) I will need to sell/trade in order to procure this ASAP....

I was pretty much set on selling everything I don't use and getting a Classic SR4 in 1st quarter of 2011, now a small doubt has sneaked into my mind...
whats the ETA on the GC bass?

I saw other people referring to a "GameChanger" in another thread, and so I searched and found this.

Whatever it is, I hope it's optional, because I'm not completely sold on the idea of adding more stuff to an instrument if it means body wood has to be scooped out and sacrificed. What if it interferes with the resonance of the body? Or by extension, the tone?

In the meantime, I'll cautiously look forward to seeing what this thing is, and hope that I'm wrong in my worries. But until my ignorance about it is dispelled, there's no guarantee that I'll want it.

By the way, what and when is NAMM? (Don't hurt me, I'm new!)

WE arent taking anything away from the guitar...
Oh, alright. That's somewhat soothing to hear. Thanks. =)

the fear factor with some was not something I thought would happen but it is pretty common....
Some people [read: me] are just naturally wary of new things. Too many times in my life, I've loved something, only for the manufacturer to change it and ruin it (in my personal opinion). So I have a little bit of "consumer paranoia", if you will. =P

Which is kinda weird in this case because I don't actually own a MusicMan bass yet, but I have been saving up for the past half year with the intention of buying one, once I figure out which one will be best for me. Since it took me a long time to save up what I currently have set a side for a new MM bass (I didn't start from zero), it sounds like I should keep saving up and wait for the unveiling of this GameChanger.
