Guess what...not everyone will like it tuff luc k

Drt Kev I really cannot believe that you didnt read my original thread but can make yourself my art director

Sincere apologies BP.

I didn't thrash it, which is what I wrongly understood by "critique". You did say beta test and I took that to mean more than detail picking and spell check (which most others are doing and do far better than me).

You got an honest, heartfelt and thought out opinion from somebody who wants it to be better than all the competitors. (I said loved it too, in capitals, FWIW). I screwed up and apologise.

dr kev it wasnt a design critique...I actually would be mad to ask you guys to collectively design this. For the record I have only won 2 communications arts awards and 5 print magazine (that doesnt count the foriegn stuff) for graphic design.....

I think it looks excellent. A few little bugs, but nothing to write home about. Major improvement- great work!

Looks fantastic!!

Again, I'm not a huge fan of web sites to begin with, however, I think it's a BIG improvement over the preceding, and is "classy and contemporary"!!

Way to go troops - we're in the 21st century now!! LOL:)

Looks great, big improvement over the previous website.

I would reiterate the comment about labelling the different versions of the same guitars (i.e. 6 or 7 string Petrucci, 4,5, 6 string Bongo...) it would be much easier to tell what exactly you are looking at, especially for n00bs.

The body color scheme looks cool with the popups, I really like that effect. A definition of the pickguards would be nice as well. Many folks may not know what Shell or Abalone mean for example.

There is no mention of matching or non-matching headstock. I am not sure if that is by design or an oversight, so I'm just pointing it out anyway.

The ASS indicates different gage strings for the HH and MM90 models, but calls them both RPS9. I am not sure if that is an error, but it looks odd to me.

The biggest error is the Black Silo Spec page. It looks like it copied the information from the AL.

Artist page: Satch is not in the Dixie Dregs (that would be awesome though ;)), Eagles - Steuart Smith (sp?)

All and all it looks great. Good job guys.

1. History Section - seems like a couple of dates are missing.
  • When Ernie Ball took full control of the company away from Leo Fender
  • Launch of Petrucci guitar
  • Launch of the Luke I and Luke II

2. History Section - Is there supposed to be information on the current specs of Musicman Guitars, like when they started using their own bridges etc etc and the brass block?

3. History Section - Launch of the Silo 20th... HOW COULD THIS BE LEFT OUT????:D

4. Instruments - There are 2 Silo Spec pictures. I think the titles should highlight what the differences are (one righty, one lefty) for stupid people like myself who had to think a bit before I got it...:p

Should there be a segregation between guitars and basses? I dunno... just throwing ideas around.

Everything else has been said...

P.S. BP, kudos to you and the guys for a great upcoming site!!!!!

..nothing to add regarding the minor flaws that are there right now and have been discovered by the others due to this being a beta version..

..overall feedback concerning the site as a whole and the design:
great, really major improvement, looks modern and structured,
"the process" is a real looker (had to look at the pics there many many times, very interesting)
"history" also very interesting and full of information (maybe more pics ?)

..summing it up: really great and much better as the previous site !!!!!!!

..btw: thanks BP for having the guts to let us dive into this prior to publishing !

The new site is looking great. A few small things I picked up on:

1 - on the History page, spelling of 'features' in the 1984 section, 'It featurs a 4 bolt neck'

2 - Honeyburst shows as being an available color on the Luke, maybe I missed this before but I didn't think that was a Luke color

3 - Again on the Luke colors - Sapphire Black spelled 'Black Saphire',

In the Media Gallery shouldn't the YouTube link take you to the EBMM videos, if so, it doesn't.

Glenn |B)

Maybe, it was just the videos that I saw, but it seemed to be working by the time I got to it. I saw an embedded JP BFR video. I saw the Gail Ann Dorsey clip via a link to YouTube.

The specs for each instrument, "Neck Attachement" should be "Neck Attachment" (although Francophones may contest that point.. ;)).

The "Controls" list for the Petrucci needs a space between '500k' and 'ohm' (a carryover from the existing site). Same with the Y2D and its "250kohm" pots.. and the Luke's "25kohm.

In the "Binding" spec for the Y2D.. do you want to mention that the binding is radiused? It's not mentioned now.. just a thought.

Also in Y2D... the "Bridge" description. Is it "Tune-O-Matic" or "Tuneomatic"? I'm not sure what the exact spelling should be.

By the way, the "Process" slideshow is great. I love all the shots that include hands.. which really drives that point home. Brilliant.

Axis and also Axis SS pages: the spec "Body Binding" is spelled "Body Biniding".

The 2008 LE text says that it is available on all instruments. I thought there were exceptions? (Y2D?)

Artist Page

Tony Levin's caption reads "Bongo Stingray Stingray"

Marc McKnight's caption reads "Stingray Bass" while John Moyer's and Cliff William's reads "Stingray" and Phoenix's reads "Stingray Stingray Bass"

Love that Tyler's included

Just needs a few tweaks here and there. Overall the site looks awesome! Great pics and love the history and process areas. Can't wait to check out the other areas in more detail.

Sterling, thanx, this sites been along time coming, but it's great all in all.

The information for the pickguards doesn't seem to be there.

I have a question, I might be really stupid but I'm just really curious....

What exactly is the BFR Blog? What will be posted there?
