Under normal playing only one in 20 years... add my bass with a khaler to the mix then it goes up quite a bit.

Ever since I stopped using GHS strings (stopped a few years ago), I've had very few strings break. I think it's been probably months or close to a year now without my breaking a string. :D

Used to break 'em every couple of months back in the late 70s....as someone mentioned above, checked my bridge for little spurs, took some sandpaper to it, problem solved.

None since.

Only 1 or 2 broken strings in 24 years of playing. The last one about 5 years ago when stretching a new G-string after installing. I can't remember the last time I broke one when playing - maybe never.

You are talking bass strings and not guitar strings, right??

I've never broken a bass string. In fact I usually cut them off when I'm replacing them and even that is tough ;)
