Thanks guys. We got out with the assistance of 3 bus loads of police, the head of Police Intelligence, the Police Chief and Deputy Chief, the Australian Federal Police, and the Indonesian Secret Service (who were briefed by the US Embassy).

In the end we had enough brass and smart looking third world uniforms present to convince the demonstrators they should go home and watch TV.
