I really want a Bongo

well, the body wood used on the bongo isn't generally known for it's aesthetic appeal. Basswood often has greenish streaks in it, and is usually finished with a solid color. The same is true for poplar, which I believe is what is used on the Stingrays with solid finishes.

They could probably do an Ash bongo, but I think they settled on basswood after a lengthy testing process, and feel it's very important to the unique sound.

there is just something mojo-ical about the single H bongo... not that the HS, HH, or any other pup configuration on a Bongo is better or worse (they're all good, and all are different in their own unique way) but the point-and-shoot simplicity of the single H along with the 3 band EQ & 18v preamp is just something that has to be experienced 1st hand to be appreciated... it just kills it every time IMHO...

I too love my Bongo 4 H but I am also really liking my Bongo 4 Hp as well. The added piezo really does something cool to the bass. I would say so far it is my favorite configuration even slightly more than the Bongo 4 H.

After Yesterday's Steve Vai concert in my home town I really want a Bongo more than ever, ...even considering a 6 strings single H after seeing (heard) this (Bongo 6 H content at the right behind Steve):

I must add, ...even after two 6 string Yamaha basses, one 5 string Yamaha fretless, and classic doublebass, that Bongo 6 H on this pic sounded the best for me (only used in two tunes), Holy wowzer

Just got back from church and played my BFR Roasted Neck Bongo 4H. While playing, I thought of this thread for some reason. It had been a while too since I had played it but man did it sound good today. I know I said that I prefer the 4Hp configuration slightly more but after hearing the bass today, I may have to double think that. I was wishing worship went a lot longer today.
