That nicely sums it up.
Not anyone here that wouldn't love that gig, or enjoyed your playing. Bigger picture to me was that it wasn't that good of a song. I mean, that girl is talented vocally, but not so much at picking good songs to record. Has the best music already been recorded maybe? Or are we really 'that' conditioned to be fans of simple minded material.
Please don't get me wrong. Your bass sounds great, and I'd give you my lunch (and then some!) to have a shot at a gig like that. I was just disappointed in how familiar the material seemed to be. There has been some cutting edge country material recorded lately (Zac Brown Band comes to mind). But Lauren's choice in what she wants to record is a "hop on the bandwagen" type thing to my ears. I've already heard it a million times.
I'll go and read the rest of the posts now.

There is always an aspect of "burger flipping" to virtually every job, but Craig man, you are flipping burgers in a studio in Nashville, plenty people would like that star on their uniform , you listen to BP and keep on turning out them great grooves for us.

Kids....this is what the people want....you must consider this...look at the best selling guitars made in 3rd world countries....they dont want mine....look at the great food and look at what the masses buy...music is no different and the product responds to the market. Thats fine....because there are Music Man's Rodney Crowells, MAK Grills and all the other really good stuff.
