I'd definately do that - it's a proof of ownership, and that it is YOUR bass!

Personaly I don't think I'd fax it to the pawnshop, I'd fax it to the police. The police and the pawnshop know it is stolen so sending the pawnshop the receipt is pointless. Man I hope this works out.

In the meantime, has anyone used eBay to let the winning bidder of this auction know they are buying a stolen bass? Maybe the winning bidder would retract their bid if pointed to this thread and see this is stolen property.

Just a thought anyway.

Posession is 9/10ths of the law. Hopefully you filed a police report back in May when you originally started this thread.

Also another idea if the police aren't too helpful; contact the media. No one likes it when channel 9 shows up asking questions. :)

I spoke to Buck Owens this morning, and he insists he is currently lifeless and unable to complete financial transactions.

Yes,
I sent the living Buck Owens a private message explaining that the bass was stolen and to refer to this thread if he had any questions but I got no response.

I'm very glad JF has shown up and hope this works out for him...

I also want to hear people singing the praises for the pawn shop that is willing to do the right thing. You can imagine that they are taking a hit on having to return this bass. If there is a way we could find their inventory, I would like to buy something. I would suggest that everyone here do the same. This is a business we should support.

absolutely, I was thinking of that yesterday. as funky as the place is, if they do give it back that'd be upstanding of them.

I really hope that if one of my guitars were stolen, I'd get support from people the way you guys are supporting JF. Unfortunately, I don't play an MM (yet) so who knows what kind of response I'd get on the "other" guitar company's forums.
