"coil taps, ...Ash Bongos" will fall on deaf ears.
Hey! easy now Bronco! If it's a StingRay5 or Sterling it will have a coil tap!
:p ;)
hehehehe

but I do think it's a great idea Jack! and the suggestion to it being limited to a certain model,p/u config.,etc. and the finish(and possibly hardware...can you say mute bridges!!) being the only "custom" then I think it'd fly. One other custom thought... to have our forum names on our own bass?? not sure how that would be made easy for manufacturing, anywho, I think the Forum LTD. is a great idea.
So.... a single H Bongo 4???

Splendid idea (I just learnt this word :D )!! So sky is the limit... Let me see... How about a SH Stingray5 with the neck pickup slanted towards the neck on the bass side for a more old-school tone? Oh and yes, I want smooth knobs :p .

Seriously, I have the cash ready for a second Stingray5, and if this idea becomes serious quickly (I mean quickly) I can wait.

Whoah People! Slow down!! I think we should see if this is even something ebmm would do first before we get all carried away with redesigning their basses.

On second thought, I want to shoot bottle rockets and/or fake blood from the tip of my bongo! Make it happen! :D

I'm tired of the "sparkle rocks" threads and the BS about "custom" EB basses, but we need a freaking Forum Generated Limited Edition Bass, available only to those of us who are forum members and who will fork over the cash and THEN we're talking limited edition!

I've seen it happen on other manufacturer's forums...and I shall not name them....

I don't know, I'm about half lit and just back from a long two week's work, defending our freedom and all that crap, but I would personally love to see a bass available only to we forum rats.

Am I drunk?

I think it's a terrible idea, but only because my finances are in such bad shape I couldn't get one :(

I vote for a single pickup, four string bongo. In the bovine colours.

Well, it was just a passing thought in the midst of some martinis, but Blue Dawn has been done, hasn't it?

Sure it has.

IF we were to get SLO behind the concept, it seems to me that the best thing would be to have something that's never been done and will probably never be repeated - as far as the color goes, I mean.

Purple paisley would be ultra-cool. Somewhere out there is a very nice custom Stingray done in 18th century whorehouse finish....belongs to Sheryl Crow, I believe.

The finish would be the main thing. How can you muck about with the electronics package, really?

Anyway, that's my little pipe dream. No more than 100 made, all numbered and with an engraved neck plate to show off to our friends, if any of us still have those.

I'll see if I can do some purple paisley photoshop mock-ups later when the coffee kicks in.

I think something like Firemist Gold would have an easier time finding enough people to justify this than purple paisley. I'd even be happy with a black necked Bongo if they could get the body color to match.

Jack--you have mail comin'.

I'm thinking purple paisley, as opposed to the Fender pink. A grape Ray with paisley patterns. Mmmmm.
Would be very cool if they offered a variety of wild and crazy colors.....they could have the order page link to Mark's shirt page! :D

Another weird thought.....how about a thin changeable body skin like cell phones have? :p

If EB doesn't jump pn that idea, somebody should! Take off the strings, snap off the body cover and snap a new one on. A different bass for different gigs. Different colors, different patterns, some solid and some transluscent. It would take the place of the pickguard too.

Stealth Bono! Exact same finish on both the neck and the body.

Scott, one of the things Jason (bassmonkee) and I have talked about, in addition to the EB Forum Limited Edtion bass, is how to make it a more attractive deal for The Powers That Be there in SLO.

Jason suggested adding $25 dollars to the price of each bass, said money to be donated to the Casey Lee Ball Foundation. If one hundred basses were produced and sold.....well, it ain't a gazillion dollars, but it's something.

I'll delete this thread if there's no possibility of a LE bass - no fancy electronic changes, just an otherwise unavailable finish color and engraved neck plate - happening because I'm the last one to want to get the unwashed masses all agitated over nothing.

Just let me know?

Jack

perhaps, eb could take a count and then mark who gets which one. that way those of us (see me!) would be able to get one and feel special when financial woes dissapeer. of course a down payment or something like that would have to be in order. but the whole layaway type idea would be good.
