IF/When we get a chance to have a LE forum color, I want to see people put their money where their mouths are! It's all fine and good to day dream about what we'd want but if we ever want something like this to happen again, if it happens at all, then we better have some takers. That's why it's important to choose a color that would be desirable to many of us but also unique. So if you want "Zebra Burst" you better be prepared to lay down some $$$$.

Whats the best amp combo to use for my new bass? Can i order a different pick guard? Can I get a thumb rest? I don't like the tuners on it. Can i get different ones? My g-string keeps sliding off the neck. Doe's it come in a six string version? Whats the pick up comb. on it? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Dont you just wanna shoot some people. From conversations I have had with well-placed sources high within Camp Ernie, anything even remotely resembling this concept would have to be seriously debated amongst The Powers That Be and there would many details to work out...not only about the bass itself but how it gets from SLO into your sweaty little hands.

So everyone take a deep breath. Not saying it won't ever happen, only that my two martini thread, shockingly, doesn't mean that the good people on the factory line immediately rush out to buy new paint and brushes.

Certainly we can feel free to discuss what we'd like if such a thing were to happen, but it would be a mistake to believe this will materialize overnight - or easily.

I think I can say that the same well-placed sources mentioned in paragraph 1 are thinking of ways to amuse the Forum Rats. Don't even bother twisting my arm as I have no details, but they know we're here and appreciate our enthusiasm.

Seeing that this "idea" is a forum members only thing i figure the best way to get it to our grubby hands would be to order from EB dealers that frequent the forum. BassPlyr comes to mind and i know someone else here is a dealer (sorry forgot who ... also would have to make sure they can ship internationally).

If this materializes and I'd toss down a deposit in an instant (assuming that its not something crappy like a brown + pink polka dot finish)

random thought i had over a cigarette: this is probably impossible b/c i can just imagine how it could impact production and/or "cancelled" orders ... but it would be sweet to get our forum screenname on the headstock. that would make each one a "one of a kind" of some sorts and i have a hunch that it might be bad for resale value outside the forum but it could somehow act as "insurance" that the guitar/bass stays in the forum. IE: I'd buy a used ray with bovine's name on it but the chances of someone random buying it off EBay would be pretty low.

I dunno... Bovinehost.com gets a lot of hits per month, you know. At least, that's what I think or believe to have heard... :p

what a great thought. I love the idea of having a forum members name on the headstock. Or at the 12th fret. Thats great thinking. or should i say "wishful thinking"

i mean if this is at all possible its gotta be something that doesnt throw off the normal production cycle by too much. id think our names on the 12th fret might be beyond the "pain in the ass" line, plus people with long screennames might get screwed

True, but what a cool idea about the screen names on the guitar. I don't know enough about production circumstances to say what would work and what wouldn't. I'm positive that the whole idea of a forum bass would suck from a production standpoint. It would be incredible to have a guitar that was the product of ideas from the people in the forum. Then in order to get one, ernie ball could send each member of the forum a membership card and you could take that to the dealer and order it. That way only members would have the first right to the guitar. You could specify color, screen name and hand, and plop down $2500.00 and get your new bass in six months. I'd do it today. I know this is all hypothetical, but it sure is fun to throw around ideas.

another question to bring up would be what instrument would it be? would it be a specific color that will be LE and that color you could put on any eb/mm instrument? or would it be a specific instrument with a specific color? if so which one?

What about a cut-off date for joining the forum?

I'm also concerned that no-one from EB has joined this thread......

im guessing it would have to be something applicable to all instruments ... or at least 1 guitar and 1 bass; it wouldnt be "fair" otherwise.

i figure it would have to be something like "memebers that have logged in at least 3 times a week since date x"

I already have a Ernie Ball forum bass. I traded John (Aragorn35016) for my blue pearl SR5, I traded my white pickup for Pete's (Psychicpet) black one and the tort pickguard was ordered from Ernie Ball.

Having forum names on an LE instrument would be a wank, as would setting some type of forum posting frequency criteria for eligibility.

Personally, I would only make the LE available to forum members who could pass a stringent spelling and grammar exam and who can also demonstrate how to set up a bass. Now, that would be an LE.

well if this ever happened it would be lame if you could sign up for the forum today and order tomorrow ... kinda defeats the purpose of rewarding the established forum rats ;)

now now ... we all know that its a fact that spelling and grammar rules dont apply to online communication.
