The Last chick I got with my Sterling was Very good Looking, Yes and i did marry her butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

I have my 100 or so Basses and she has the 6 Bedroom House. So the bad part about the Sterling is, too bad there wasn't some sort of Good Looking Chick Insurance, lol

I acquired a Sabre, which I believe is the same neck as the Sterling, or very close. I really like that neck.

Some Sabres may have different necks and I've even heard of some with 1.5" necks. In general though, they aren't the same as a Sterling. Sabre necks are slightly wider at the nut and have a flatter profile. Sterling necks are more like a classic Fender J bass. A really good J bass.

My 83 nine pound Sabre is lighter by a half pound than my 96 Sterling. I don't think that mass is the be all and end all of tone.

The only brand new bass I ever bought was a Ric 4001 back in 79 or so. I hated it. Neck diving, neck bowing POC for me. Chris Squire seemed to deal with it OK OTOH, but it wasn't my cup o' tea.

Yes Sterlings and SR 5's are very simular in tone, both Sporting Ceramic Maggnets and Preamps are almost Identical, Both now using the phantom Coil, but as you know, 10 of the same basses will sound a bit different due too woods, necks etc.

For recording Rosewood necks give a great woody tone and maple necks give you the glassy edge I Love.

Almost every gig I do there is always 2 stingrays & a Sterling or vise versa.

Nothing Sounds and Plays Like the Ernie Ball Basses. Them boys got the Art down.
