but I think I completely approached these wrong. I was expecting very bright flatwounds and I was kind of disappointed when I first started playing them.

the idea wasnt to make roundwounds...it was to enhance flats...push the fundamental and give it more power and wider freqs

I caught some flack earlier on about the concept of a flat sounding like a round being odd to me when you could just buy rounds. After your review & BPs comment I'm actually more interested in them now. I play my Bongo almost exclusively at church now & reducing finger noise with a more sit back in the pocket tone would work (like a regular flat) but i've been reluctant to put flats on it and make it a one trick pony. These may have a bit more versatility for the cover band stuff too. Its good to hear that its more of a flat like tone than originally described.

ordered a set through my old workplace. guys there are great. picking it up sometime next week and i look forward to trying them.
i also put in a regular cobalt set.. gotta check those too while i am at it :)

No string could make the Bongo a one trick pony! :)
