Other than that you got us we are trying to sabotage the launch.

Ha! Love the sarcasm.

I ordered mine from Guitar Center.
They were easy to find and cheaper than Amazon and I'm an Amazon regular.

Hey Kevin -

Which ones did you order. I'm looking at:

2811 - Regular Slinky Flatwound 55 75 90 110

2812 - Regular Slinky Flatwound 50 70 85 105

2815 - Super Extra Cobalt (according to GC) 40 60 70 95

The descriptions may be a bit different (could be just GC descriptions) so I'm thinking it's just a matter of string gauge?

Thanks!

I was thinking about getting these for my Classic Ray 5. Anyone know whether or not the B, specifically, can be strung though body? I would love to give these a whirl!

Of course you can string it tru the body. Why would that be a problem?

I think in a nutshell, from the guys wondering why there is a need for a new flat....i personally think it's just 1 more way to carve out a unique tone. They will be unique and I think just another way to let you set yourself apart in the mix:)

Agreed!

And to be honest - different people like different qualities about different brands of flats. A set of bright flats, that aren't chromes, really appeals to me!

Hrumph. I mean , "Yaaaaaay for you!"

Heh. Cool. Let us know what you think when they get there. Hopefully, Bassstringsonline will let me know something soon, too.

This is what I am seeing online at GC, is this the 5 string set?
Ernie Ball 2816 Cobalt Slinky Flatwound 5-String Bass Strings | GuitarCenter

The picture shows a 4 string set

If you look at the bottom of the package both of those say Cobalt flat.

Mine arrived in the mail today but I won't install until I get an instrument issue resolved. If I have to send it for repair I don't want the new strings on it until it gets back.
Note to self: Get off your butt and call CS so you can get the instrument back into service.

I just got my Cobalt Flats today and I put them on my Stingray (that had Cobalt Rounds). I'm going to give them a few more days before I write a full review on these, but I think I completely approached these wrong. I was expecting very bright flatwounds and I was kind of disappointed when I first started playing them. I have to admit right now that I have had a difficult time getting along with flats in the past. I walked away from them for a few hours to try to erase what I had heard and what I thought I should have expected to hear. I came back and played it again and I got it. These flats are not only a little brighter, but they're also punchier than I remember my old flats being. I tried slapping a bit (I'm not a huge slapper) and I could hear their hidden brightness come out. I can't wait to put them through my full rig at practice on Wednesday, but right now I'm digging them and I apologize to EB for approaching these with some preconceived notion about these strings. I'm excited to hear them in a band setting this week.

the idea wasnt to make roundwounds...it was to enhance flats...push the fundamental and give it more power and wider freqs

Judging by the graph on the package it looks like you accomplished that.
I got my first set yesterday.
It will be a bit before I can put them on but I can't wait til I do.
