Maybe I'll get lucky and my stealth fretless will ship with these?

It'll probably ship with the standard Slinkies but you can order them from your supplier and have them install for you or ship with the bass. Or you can buy a set to have ready when it's delivered.

I like flats for my fretless partly because I don't like the fingerboard wear from rounds so having some super lively flats would be pretty cool imo

I have been using these on 4 of my basses for about 3 months now. I can report that you all will want to try a set . The goal was to make a flat with the brightness of a roundwound and EB has in fact accomplished that.
I have recorded and played live with the Cobalt Flats on my Bongo single H 5. The top end is present and they are very punchy like the Colbalt Roundwounds. The one thing that takes getting used to is the lack of string squeek as you move around the bass. This is a GOOD thing! The engineers love this.
They are very easy on the fingers and slides become effortless.
The one thing you cannot get from these strings is when using a pick , you cannot get the pick scratch across the string that would be a sound one would use in certain situations.
I installed them on two of my fretless basses, one a Bongo 5 HS and the other a Paul Larait acoustic and for me , this is the answer. all the harmonics are present and these basses just sing. Slides are silky and effortless.
Check em out.

I plan on doing that with both my fretted and fretless Bongo 5SHPs. The rounds aren't incredibly new, but they aren't ancient, either.

Thanks man, my Cobalts last more than 6 months before I give em a change so I'll know exactly what to listen for

Thanks for taking the time to do that!

I'll probably go ahead and record something this weekend with the rounds. I need to start on my Christmas album for this year anyway. :D

Genius me realized I didn't need to wait until I actually got the flats to go ahead and record the rounds. Duh.

Not sure if anyone has come across this. But here's a video from NAMM that will give you an idea of how these strings sound.

Heh--I can pretty much guarantee that they will sound nothing like that when I am playing them. The idea of a dimed treble knob on a bass is like putting salt on ice cream.

I pre-ordered mine a couple weeks ago with an expected ship date around the end of March.
Can't wait to string 'em up and put them to action.

Why in the world is "Cobalt" not in the product description so that MF's search doesn't find them, although they have a product page for them?
