Let's criticize...

I guess I don't understand how this is a Stingray problem and not a technique problem. It seems like a user issue.

Actually not having a problem at all. I've only had my Sterling about 2 months and absolutely love it, but not used to playing without an anchor point for my thumb. My technique is not impeded without a thumb rest but thought it might possibly be enhanced with one. I'm 57 years old and have had the priviledge of playing with excellent musicians and bands over the years. If my technique isn't accomplished at this point, it never will be.

I was just adding my 2 cents to the wish list of everybody else. This thread is about a criticism you might have of your Music Man bass. I actually don't have any other than thinking it would be nice if EB offered a pickguard with thumbrest option for my Sterling. As I now think about it, it would be smarter for me to just order a spare pickguard and play around with it until I find something I like.

I must totally agree, I think that Ernie ball should give us a life time supply of strings, ether that or make a string that will last forever, and sound amazing for ever...





I am just kidding, onless you work for ernie ball and want to give me a life time supply of bass strings...

After close to 20 years of playing bass, I still have yet to figure out how people do this.

The only time I had a problem with a string coming off the fretboard was when the neck was in a loose neck pocket (Believe it or not--70s Fender )and was not sitting straight. A quick yank and a tightening of neck screws, and the problem was solved for good.

What kind of ham fist style of playing does it require to continually yank the g string off of the neck?

+1 I love how most of the complaits are from people who have less then 50 posts. I've heard of constructive criticism but this is just bitching.

I have a P bass that was built from one of those Saga kits. The G string is very close to the edge of the fingerboard. I just make sure that I don't pull it downward in any way when I'm playing. It doesn't really bother me at all.

There, I said it....

With that said, I will add that there are some "things" people may want to customize. While, I'm not one to change anything more than the pickguard, there are some who dig into all kinds of tinkering. To each his own. However, I don't believe people have the right to truly complain about the "choice" options. If 99.9559% of StingRay necks warped within the first year - THAT is something to complain about. Otherwise, shut up about it.

Let's not confuse preferences with complaints people. If you like a drop D tuner, that's your call. That's not a failing on EB MM's part just because you want a drop D tuner......
