Drag this thread to the side of the road and shoot it.

Then, start a new one called "Lamenting the Sparkle Finish"

Do you not change your position according to the tone the songs requires. I find that i move my right hand position to get my desired tone way more than i find myself adjusting tone controls. I play probably 65% of the time w/ my right thumbnail just on the corner of the front of the pickup. The rest of the time i'll move up on the neck or just behind the p/u for my desired tone.

As I said earlier, there's nothing to complain about... So let's close the thread. I don't think it should be deleted, just locked up. Even if it's not closed/deleted, I think the subject will die down and go away eventually. After all, there ISN'T anything to complain about.

Have I said there isn't anything to complain about?

Actually, I thought of something.

Maybe EB should screen who they sell basses to.

This might cut down on the whining. :)

I have started this thread, does my vote count (you know, my intelligence and all)?

Please delete this!

It wouldn't serve any purpose anymore. Sorry for the headache.

Hot Dang!! Let's end the exchange of differing opinions!! I mean c'mon, what were we thinking when we joined this thread to constructively critique the instruments that make us so happy? I know I look in the mirror every morning and can not in any way improve on this Adonnis! and then to my dealings as a human on this mortal coil, hell, in no way could I ever tweak anything and NO amount of constructive crticism would help at all because my friends and colleagues just love to tell me "yes" and "wow, that's musical and inspired, it's not behind the beat and in the wrong key".....

I agree this rant of a thread's been going on for a while but half of that is due to folks gettin' their britches in a knot over the fact that some folks would like to see some tweaks or options added/changed to their already beloved instruments.

Nobody has questioned the quality work and dedication that goes into building a bass from MM, nor has anyone slandered anyone or anything from SLO, that's always been in the highest regard! Some guys just wrote that they would like different stuff but if this is going to start turning into a <looks down nose> uppity "that question was stooopid" kind of a forum then.... I just think we're all above that kind of attitude.

peter

ps. the "knob" thing, Sadowsky's pre-amp knobs are way smooth ,granted with no centre detent, but they're insanely smooth and easy for on the fly changes, not a huge deal and I have no problems with the knobs on SRs and SR5s but it's not that stupid or petty of a question!

After close to 20 years of playing bass, I still have yet to figure out how people do this.

Never managed it myself. Once managed to rip a fingernail off playing bass though...
