It appears to be a one-piece body... yes?
;)

russinator,

Your Sterling was completed on 3/25/03 and sent to Woodsy's Music in Kent, Ohio.

Is it a one-piece body? It appears to be. Our wood grain matchers in the mill are very skilled in making bodies appear to be one piece when they are, in fact, matched up together so well it's amazing. They do this by using cuts from the same board and matching the grain to perfection. I have myself been fooled numerous times by this. What often appears to be a one-piece body is quite often a 2 or 3-piece body.

Here is how to tell: look up towards the body from the tailpiece, right near the strap button. This is the angle that you would best see the woods joined.

If it turns out that you do not have a one-piece body, that makes your bass no less valuable or beautiful.

Just as an aside - the glue we use is 2-3 times stronger than wood and is the last place a body would ever give way.

Very nice bass, by the way! Arf!

Dan

Thanks!

Hard to believe this was still in the store after that long a time. I did notice that date on the original box.

I can find no seams looking at the edge so I really think it is one-piece. I mainly picked this over an antique burst w/matching headstock Sterling because it was lighter - 8.75 lbs.

I'm already thinking tort guard and black knobs - but, hey, it plays and sounds great! :D

Yeah, one characteristic of a one-piece is a slightly lighter body - as you might expect, glue weighs more than wood,

Sweet!

Can I please get the DOB for my new StingRay, serial # E55207. Does the serial number supply any other information other than the DOB? If so, could you relay that information as well. Thanks.

MarkY, What you have there is a new 30th Anniversary bass, congrads! It was completed on 7/5/06 and sent to the Long & McQuade store in Victoria, BC, Canada (of course!)

Think it is 04/05. Wonder how many were made?

Thanks

chris

Chris,

Your Limited Edition 2 Envy Green 5 was completed on 10/4/04 and sent to Dubaldo's Music in Manchester, Connecticut. There were some less than 100 made of the Envy Green StingRay 5's.

Thanks Dan -

Just out of curiousity, how many of these were made and where was mine originally shipped to?

Thanks in advance!

This one was shipped to Guitar Center's Distribution Center. There were less than 30 of these made in the StingRay 5.

Cool bass -

I did pick it up recently, and it is new unplayed still had the plastic on it. I also have a second one I was able to track down in Florida, which will be shipped to me in about 4 weeks after I pay the thing off!!! It is new as well, unplayed same specs as this Stingray. Lucky to have found them at all considering they are nearly 2 years old. I dont think green is the most popular color, but Envy Green is the SHEEET. Thanks,

JP

Your StingRay 5, which we show as a Tobacco Burst/rosewood, was completed just last month, 6/2/06 and sent to Music Stop in Moncton, but I'm sure you knew that!

Very cool! To have 2 of the same exact bass would be cool - and I agree, the Envy Green Limited was a hot ticket! Enjoy!
