I am interested in buying a 19?? Ernie Ball/Musicman Stingray 5 string bass. I had a tech look at it and he says it is in good to excellent condition. He looked at the pots and he told me that the guitar was made in 1988. The color is cream white with a birdseye maple neck. It has active electronics (9v battery), a white swirl pickguard, a three position switch and four knobs on the guitar. SN is on the tail piece and is 51340. Sale price is $1000.00. Also, any information on which knobs do what would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm new to the forum and I need some information on a Musicman bass guitar. The model is a Stingray 5, I guess. I do not own one but I've seen this nice bass for sale online. The seller stated that the bass was built in 1996. The serieal number is 57528.

Can you give me confirmation on the production date? And what's more important for me. What is this bass worth nowadays, it's in good condition ofcourse. I do not know if this is a Stingray Classic with that awesom birdseye maple neck.
What I do know about it is that it has a single humbucker and that 'larger' pickguard. Not the oval one with the metal plate underneath the knobs.
Any info you can give me is welcome.

I hate to pay 1500€ when I can get the same bass, brand new, for 1900€.

This is a normal Stingray 5 from September 18th, 1996. Check eBay to see what similar basses are going for.
