Hi, Can I have the details please for a Stingray with the serial number 42737. Can you also confirm that it has a fretless board and is 3eq. Many thanks!

October 24th, 1994. It is 3 EQ but started its life with a fretted rosewood board.

DOB for my Stingray 5 H serial number E92817? Thanks!

E77951 please.

I'd like to know more about the body wood used, electronics, switching, etc. It wasn't tagged as an 4HH model but I couldn't tell any difference between the other 4HH models in the GC that I bought it.

Thanks,
Can you tell me the exact blue color of this bass?

Help with background on my EB Sting Ray 4-string

My EB Sting Ray Bass.jpg

Hi there. I'm a new member here so forgive me if I missed some information previously posted in this very long thread.

I am trying to find out the "born on" date and specs (particularly the neck radius) for my EB bass (See picture above). Here's the run-down:

-- Ernie Ball Music Man Sting Ray Bass
-- Serial Number: B027656
-- 4-string
-- Translucent sky blue (my description; not the official color listing from company)
-- Birdseye maple neck/fretboard
-- Clear plastic, tear-drop-shaped pick guard
-- 4 dots below 12th fret
-- String retainer for D and G strings
-- 3 adjustment knobs (volume, treble, bass)
-- Purchased new circa 1988

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately we do not have information on this bass. Our database doesn't get super thorough until the early 90's. This is definitely an 80s bass. I believe the radius to be 11". I could be wrong... I will double check on this though and edit this post if I am wrong.

As A.J. says, the early "B0xxxxx" serials are not recorded. However, a comparison with similar serials indicates 1988. Dates can be found on the neck heel and in the neck pocket on the body but the neck has to be removed to view them. If you want to do that then you should take it to a luthier if you're not experienced to do it yourself. You'll also find a date on the rear of the chrome control plate either written with a marker pen or a dated sticker attached to the rear of the Volume pot. This is only the date of the preamp but it will be indicator of vintage.

I'm fairly sure that 1988 was the first year for "Translucent Blueburst" but could be wrong.
