rod trussbroken -

my white Stingray (B027445) has a body date of Jul 25 1988...thought you'd like to put it on your site maybe.

dan -

just got this Sterling, I'm wondering what color it is. It appears to be a really really really dark blue, but it says P Blue (Pearl Blue?) in the neck pocket. Here is the number: 40156

eric,

This Sterling is Pearl Blue (we later switched it around to call it Blue Pearl  ) and it was made on 3/22/94. The finish we used in those days was darker than it is now. The Sterling, like most of our instruments, was only available in a handful of finishes in those days. Since this was our only blue color we offered on the Sterling, the idea was to make the color pretty middle-of-the-road in terms of darkness/lightness.

Later, when we introduced darker blue colors like Midnight Blue Sparkle and Carbon Blue Pearl, the decision was made to lighten Blue Pearl, (as it was now called) up a bit.

Cool stuff! :D

Ade,

Sure. This bass was completed on 9/9/91 and shipped to our UK Distributor. The color is in fact Blueburst, which we used to offer on the StingRay/StingRay 5 until 1994 (We still offer it on the Steve Morse guitar, now called Morse Blueburst). The reason it was dropped for the basses? Difficult and time-consuming to shoot, and by 1994 our backorders were getting to be out of control, so this was a time-saving measure.

The body wood is poplar, the neck solid maple. There were less than 600 StingRays made in the Blueburst finish.

Rockin' bass!

;)

David,

Your Absolutely Gorgeous bass was built on 1/12/01. (I say this because my main bass is also a trans orange rosewood with piezo!)

Sweet!

rayzak,

Your 2-Band EQ Buttercream was one of only 4 production models made in that edition. It was completed on 5/31/05 and was shipped to Granny's Music Mall in Oklahoma City.

Very nice!

D,

Your bass was completed on 11/16/05. It is a Sapphire Black finish with Rosewood fretbord and a Moonstone pickguard. This was among the first ones in the HH configuration that was shipped out.

Used Stingray 5 stringer

New to this forum and I just picked up my first Stingray. I got it used at a guitar Center, and was wondering what the date of birth might be??

I asssume sometime in 2006 because of the like-new condition...

The serial number is E51833 -- it has a nice black cherry burst finish, a black pickguard and a maple fretboard, and I am enjoying it VERY much.

Please give me the DOB of Sting Ray #40053.

Thanks in advance.

David,

That serial number pertains to a StingRay in Trans Teal with a rosewood fretboard completed on 3/1/94 and sent to Steve's Music in Montreal. Woof!
