Here is my battle worn stingray. I was told 82 when I bought her in Milwaukee, but I believe B023345 puts her around 86. Apologies to anyone made sick by the wounds.

No mutes when I purchased. Pickguard was clear but scratched to all heck. Original case. Purchased about 1993 and has been my primary gigger since then.

These early instruments are not on EB's data base. It could be 1986 but I think it would be more like 1985. I'm pretty sure the "Made in USA" was gone from the neck plate by 1986. Dates are located in the body pocket and on the neck heel but the neck has to be removed to view them. There's probably no need to go to that extent.

Could you find out, if it is original trans red or a special color like red hot? It looks darker than trans red. I can post pics if you need. The dealer is out of business for a few years now, so i can't ask him.

Michael, it's not surprising that it would be darker - the Trans Red we used back then was more of a deep wine red, or burgundy, color. It doesn't seem likely that a person would go to the trouble to strip and refinish your bass just to refinish it in virtually the same color.

I have Music Man Cutlass #B023151. I don't know exactly which year of production it is - 1982-83?. Can anybody help?

Flamethrower, welcome, but unfortunately pre-EB serial number records do not exist. I am going to ask that Rod Trussbroken weigh in on this one.
