The body wood is most likely ash but it could also be alder or poplar.

thing is though, the seller has been telling me it dates from the early to mid 90s
and due to the buckle rash and chips to the body work I believed him !!!
Picked it up this morning and was disappointed with the damage but , because I thought it was much older, kind of understood.
Now it appears my new baby has had a far harder life...
will have to give her MUCH tlc !!!!

Ive just noticed...you given the same manufacturing date to a guy with a Bongo bass, in the same answer !
I wonder has there been a mix up..what are the odds of the 2 of us asking about 2 different basses, and both of them having the same DOB ????

BTW< what would you recommend to clean the fretboard with ??
music shops here in Dublin are trying to sell me about 10 different things !!!!

You are welcome I have corrected the date for the customer with the bongo, thanks for catching that.
We recommend oil soap if you can find it locally, Murphy's is a good choice diluted 2 parts h20 1 part oil soap.

1. A01369 was completed 06/19/96 & sold to Veneman Music, Rockville, MD. Unfortunately we do not provide production numbers. There were not a limited quantity produced, amount is based on orders taken.
2. E77978 was completed on 01/31/11, sold to Musik Meyer , Germany

Hello, I found one bass Sting Ray 5 strings, with this serial number: E05801. What are the characteristics and the date of production?

E05801 was completed on November 24th, 1998. It should be Honey Burst (listed in our system as "Sunburst") and it has a maple neck.
