Mornin guys!
Well, I JUST got my new guitars yesterday and I am knocked OUT! Some of you at NAMM may have seen them, the Blue flame and the dark cherry quilted burst-like axes?? The Ball Family Reserve guitars! These play like buttrer and sound SO good. I am taking them on the road in march and I am using them on my new solo record that I am knee deep in. Once again.. just the best guitars out there!! I am honored to be a part of the family and thanks again to Sterling, Dudley, Brian and Scotty! You cats RULE!
I have really been into my arsenal of MM's. My new record is ALL Vintage amps, no racks and all that sh*t. Thats fine for live and having all the options but I am just pluggin into old amps, AC-30's , a really funky old Gibson amp that screams, Marshalls of course, and my old Ampeg VT-22, an old 1/10 Supro etc.. I notice that these guitars morph depending on what amp you play thru. VERY cool organic FAT ASS tones. Its nice to really hear these guitars sing. I think if any of you guys are interestred when my record comes out in the Fall, you will be VERY surprised at the Tones that I got and the versatility fo these axes. Old vintage mics-pre-amps and compressors thru an old 64 channel NEVE board ( parts of which come from EMI-LONDON). Dark Side of ther Moon was recorded on 16 channels of this desk.. anyway I am REALLY happy and these guitars KILL!!
Ok, too much coffee. haha
Have a great day and Music Man rules!

Hey Luke, will try to meet you in Munich March 21st, I was doing the guitars for the opening Band (RPWL) for Toto in 2003 when you played the Tollwood tent. (Wow 4 years ago - time flies!!)
The day Robbie Williams was playing the stadium;) next to our location.
So I try too come to visit you, but this time we don´t open for you:( So it will be difficult to meet. Have fun though.

LUUUUUKE!!!!!!!! Whassup man?

I was stunned by the way your BFR model looked in Bahama Blue Burst - I want one of those guitars like a 70 year old man wants wood. The Ruby Burst quilt was pretty stellar, too. Naturally, I ordered a bunch at NAMM :D

Here's lookin forward to your new solo CD and you coming to Connecticut on tour - I'll be there with bells on.

sat morn

Mornin to ya,
I had a great week workin in the studio with the new guitars. Man they sound and feel Soooooo good ! Like a 13 year olds first stroke. Guys you know what i mean. hahahaha
I did a cool thing yesterday, I plugged straight into a marshall JCM 2000 ( my son Trev's and its a really good one) and hit the clean sound and then piggie backed 2 DBX-160's cranked and got that Gilmour clean sustain the smacks everytime you pick a note..very cool with a long pre-delayed reverb, VERY Floyd The Wall and these guitars ate it up. I am very proud of all the different sounds I have been getting with all my guitars. I broke out the 6 string Bass and put it thru a boutique Tremelo and got that "Twin Peaks" bass sound. Remember that? I quadrupled it, amazing noise!
I am just havin so much fun on my own. I love not having to do a record by commitee. haha EVERYONE is a producer. hahaha Now its just me and my engineer- co-producer Steve Macmillin. He does Trevor Horn-Seal-Mutt Lange..the list goes on and on and he is VERY organic but still has his head in the new tech stuff. Amazing enineer that knows how to get a great natural sounds without over EQ-ing everything.
Anyway, have a great weekend. I wish I was at my desert house with Biff but I gotta work today.
Yer pal
Lucious

PS Biffer will be making an appearance on my record with his wild acoustic instruments. I assume he will be perfoming naked. haha
A Scary thought.

Credit where credit deserves

I wish I could take all the credit but its belongs to Dudley, Sterling ( Biff) and then me. Dudley and I have had worked together before on some old guitars and hwne I know he was working with Biff it made perfect sense. I played the first EVH's and loved them and Biff was so kind to offer to make ME a guitar and the result was the LUKE. I am so happy and honored to have this guitar and thanks to you all whop got one and enjoy it!! It just keeps gettin better.
