Thanks Jack, I maybe will get a chance to stop by some time. I am heading to Houston here in a couple of weeks if not sooner to spend some time with my sis-inlaw.

I hear you and think I am going Bongo, but never know since they will probably have a dual pup SR 5 stocked locally here as soon as they can get one.

It is a dilemma but a delightful one at that. I am sure no matter which way I go it will work.

I saw these at the summer NAMM show, and didn't pay close attn. But what model of bass is this feature going to be on?? I always wished that MM would have released a dual HH model in the Sterling or Stingray.

It doesn't really say anything on the MM site about the HH models. If I can one day get a Stingray in HH config, it'll be a cream dream!!!!

Stingrays, Stingray 5s and Sterlings will all be available with HH, HS or H pickup configurations.

The dual pickup models have three band eqs and piezo is not an option. Single H models give you a choice between three band (with or without piezo) or two band eq

Even though I am a double H kinda guy, I like the HS SR5, and the four string HH ones the best so far. I do need more time to mess around on them though.

Say I have a question, I notice that with these new dual pickup basses that they both seem to have that sloped top like the bongo. Are the single pickup models going to have the same feature? I have a single pup Sterling on order with Jack and I was just wondering if I'm gonna be getting a surprize when I open up the case lol.

Floresent lights cause interference with anything wired with copper wire. IMHO

Networks being one of them.

I guess there's not going to be a 5-position switch version of the Bongo HS and HH models then ..

that is correct! i got my hands on an HS Sterling and Stringray4 and and on both of them positions 3 & 4 kicked way too much ass!

i cant wait ;)
I have a HS Stingray, and I agree that positions 3 and 4 rock - although, they are all useful. I tend to think that position 4 may be the best bass tone ever! It's really that good.

Two Questions

As the owner and huge fan of an SR5, I have two questions before placing an order:

1. IS there a Jazz bass lurking here? I imagine it will be a bit of an "untamed" one based on the MusicMan pre, but how close are we talking?

2. Is there any reason not to get the HH vs the HS? I mean, does the HH get everything the HS gets, plus more?

Thanks, folks!

in my exdperience there is most definately a "better" j bass there (again, just my opinion) ... and its not as hard to tame as you think. IMHO when you use 1 coil from each pup (position 4 for example - j type config) the bass chills out a bit. I used to have a J bass and i think that both the HH and the HS do the J thing but better (thats just an opinion tho)

ummm ... i think this is actually a huge deal. I dont think its a safe assumption to say the HH can do everything the HS does. IMO the main difference is the obvious one ... the H vs the S. that brings into light: "do i like the sound of the H in the neck solo'd better than I like the S solo'd?". Personally i never thought id solo the neck but i do it all the time - its a great tone and, personally, i like the S better than the H.

Also ... in pos 3 you have all the coild in both PUPs going. so that leads to "do i like and HH sound more than an HS sound?".

Its ALL preference.

i cant make a good comparison cuz my HS is a Sterling and my HH is an SR4. theyre both amazing.
