I imported mine from Kenya.

They're so cheap just not quite as portable as the Nano though. :D

No prblems with battery life on this model either!

If you can convert it to MPEG-4 (best done using Quicktime Pro 7) then you should be able to upload it to the iPod.

Alright people, I just bought the CREATIVE Zen Touch 40GB MP3 player and it is AWESOME!!! I really DONT need the iPod and I seriously think that the sound quality is better, and I have my songs in WMA format. I dont need any of that video stuff to waste memory, I'd much rather spend the time I have on the bus or what not listening to music and really enjoying it and get into it. If you want to watch a video properly, go home and put it inot a DVD and turn up the sound and watch comfortably on your couch on your BIG ASS screen. Plus I think the Creative is more durable and does not scratch like a mother f***er like the iPod, and I know that for a fact since all my friends have em. Just my little review of the Creative :D .

Sir, you have done well. I feel proud. I have no idea why. Possibly because SOMEONE thinks the same way as I do. Which makes me happy. Also, I'm drunk and tired so I'm going to bed. But good work all the same. Music players for music! I like it.

CodeMonkey is holding out for an iPod with a bluetooth enabled "Make Coffee" feature. Or I guess an iCoffee Color. Whichever makes it to market first.

So I ordered a new iPod last night. A black 30gb with engraving. How long does it take to put music on an iPod? Like from cd to iPod? I think I have something like 40 cds. Should I clear a whole day for that project or will it be fast?

If you already have them burned into MP3's, you just have to import them to iTunes. You can get started before you get your iPod. Just download the latest iTunes and either start burning your CD's or import any files you have already. Spend some time figuring out how to categorize your music (setting up genres, etc.) and making some useful playlists. The 'auto playlist' feature is cool.

They don't float!!

Hard luck story of 2005 -
My mate "Bob" won a 60 gig I pod in a competition run by a major UK Newspaper.
He's over the moon with it, pleased as punch.
Takes it everywhere with him.
Takes it into the bathroom ......... and drops it in the bath.
He said "Spud you know when you see something happening like in slo mo, but ya can't do anything about it?".

anyway it sinks to the bottom of the bath - so they don't float O.K.
He fishes it out and it "goes all kinda hot!"

So we stripped it down and dried it out - looks like it may work with a new battery.

So Bob - it doesn't!

I personally don't care about video. Just max capacity so I can import songs at a very high quality.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Apple was the last of the mp3 style players to sport video. I think the Creative Zen had it for a year before Apple dove in. I bet they were just waiting to see if the market was interested in it. Obviously they are cause both players sell. I love my old school 20gb iPod but I'm definitely getting a new one soon mostly for more space.

The video thing never did anything for me. I'm all for smaller iPods with more capacity and longer battery life. Kill the extra 'features' if need be. I 'still' use my old 15 gb iPod and it is perfect for my needs.

When my 4GB nano works, which it does most of the time, I think it's great.

I hate when it freezes and I have to reset. That's annoying. Sometimes, it does it when I upload my music from my Mac. That's even more annoying, because sometimes the artwork get screwed up. Then, I have to go fix it.

I'm eagerly anticipating the next generation of iPods. If any of the rumors are true, there are some really cool things coming. What I'd like Apple to do is a wireless iPod that can function on my network at home (i.e., if they incorporated WiFi into the iPod). I think it would be cool if it could share tunes with Macs on the network. Then, my nano, or whatever I buy next, could function as a remote control while I use AirTunes to play my Mac's tunes through my stereo. It would be the ultimate remote control for selecting music off my computer. Of course, it would also be cool, because if I'm listening to my iPod late at night, I can listen to any tune anywhere on the network without bothering to upload it to the iPod. If they can't do something like that, well, I wouldn't mind the idea of a touchscreen/widescreen iPod or a Bluetooth iPod. Of course, if they do that, and I can watch movies on my iPod, well, they better make a longer-lasting battery and increase capacity exponentially (at least for the flash memory players). Otherwise, it will be useless.

Anyway, we'll see what rumors are true.

I dropped my nano in the toilet. I let it sit for about three days to dry. Then, it started working again.

I was crushed. I called Apple, and I asked them how I could get it fixed. Basically, the story they gave me was that it couldn't be fixed and that Apple had no mechanism for getting these things fixed, especially for something that was totally not a warranty issue.

I think the guy took pity on me, and he encouraged me saying something like, "Well, you know, I had a friend drop his in a swimming pool. His started working after a few days of drying out." Sure enough, after swabbing the thing with alcohol and letting it dry for a few days, it worked just fine.
