Sure. But even with the fact, that the advantages of previews and stuff, is not good to always post only good opnions. And the world is not composed of only nice things to be said. and it still looks like a RG, no matter what other people try to say to me, this was my first impression. I hope this is not the definitive one.

This is not because it's the MM/EB forum that it have to be a kind of "worship" protos and stuff. And I still don't like this prototype, XD.

Thanks. Anyway there's other thing that my mom always say: "People that say what they want, end listening what they don't wanted."(Sorry about the broken english, Xd)

I posted earlier about my disappointment regarding some of the negative comments here. Even some long time forum members felt that it was OK to post their views, and told me so. The interesting point is the guitar has JP written on the headstock and if he is happy why can't we be happy? We know at the end of the day our input is not included in the final design so why not be positive? I actually really like it and will more than likely be buying one now based on the pics of the prototype.

I know I want one of those new bad babies. I just don't know if I should get the old model, or wait for the new one to come out now. >.>

I hope I'm not stepping over my newbie boundary, but consumers ARE the people who will be buying the guitar at the end of the day right? I don't see an issue with people sharing their opinions as long as it is done in a tactful and non-offensive way.

Go read Big Poppa's posts in this thread and please remember this is still a prototype. While you're at it, read John Petrucci's report on this prototype as well. You'll get your chance as a consumer to either purchase or not sooner or later.

Hi everyone. I have a minute here in the studio and I thought I'd drop a line and let you know my thoughts about the latest JP design. First of all, a huge thanks to Sterling for never straying from his original commitment to me which was to build me the ultimate guitar, the ultimate tool and not stop until it's right. You are the best! Also, to Dudley and Drew, thanks for all of your hard work in making this guitar...the many different protos and phone conversations. You are both truly artists in this field. Let me also start by saying that I still love my current JP model and will continue to play it and stand by it. So, on to the latest model... First of all it's an absolute work of art and is brilliantly crafted. You really have to see it in person to fully appreciate how stunning it is. I started tracking with it yesterday, and the combination of alder with the mahogany block and maple top, along with the mahogany neck makes for the best sounding guitar I've ever heard. The guitar rings like a monster stirred from a deep hibernation with the full sonic spectrum being resonant and in your face. As for the design changes, my idea was to take the current model to the next level as far as hot rodding. Think of it as a Petrucci muscle car/guitar. The change in the bottom horn and slight body and contour changes all have to do with fret access and technique facilitation. The pickup rings were added for aesthetics and flexibility and present no problems for me. Anyway, I can go on and on, but there's my initial reaction to the guitar after having it now for 24 hours. Thanks for all of your interest, passion and support for this guitar and Ernie Ball!
All the best,
John Petrucci

Wow, just... wow.

JP, as has been said a million times before, although I do prefer your original JP model to your newer one from what i've seen of the new one, if you like it, that's all that really matters.

We're all fanboys who own a JP model at the end of the day anyway ;) Or maybe that's just me...

Keep rockin JP, really looking forward to your next album. You are the rest of the guys DT really are "teh sh*t"

Would they consider, or do they even make at this present time, lefties of the current and/or new model JP's 6 or 7 string?

this is JOHNs fiddle once he gets it to where HE likes it THEN EBMM allow us knuckleheads to buy THE SAME IDENTICAL fiddle that JOHN himself DOES PLAY..........so im gonna say yes the consumer is buying at the end of the day BUT its JOHNS fiddle .............. So like BP says not that our opinions dont matter because they do .........but its johns opinion that matters on this one...:)
Stick around its a great place to hang out with the coolest players/people/instruments around!

We get it. But people are going to express their opinions. And we should all be permitted to do that. BP's only requirement is that we choose our words carefully.

If we all werent passionate about the guitar we would be making better use of our time than hangin around a forum.

If you look back at the JP forum when we introduced the first MM Jp some of the biggest supporters of our guitar were the biggest detractors. Same with the Bongo and anythin new.
You can look at change as threatening or as an opportunity to add to the mix. I cant understand why it is so important for people to critize what JP wants as Im still makn the old one......If I was discontinuing the first one then I could understand the SELECTED outrage

I guess I have to go to the JP forum to see how Cud is behaving!!!!

Very curious too know how the D-Sonic sounds with the Alder body and mahogany tone block. Im not particularly blown away by the pickups on the 20th anniversary. However I do know about the rule that your not supposed too change pickups on EBMM guitars :p

After reading the posts here and on the JP forum, all I have to add is, it's JP's model, and the changes are brought on by JP. It's kind of like the Morse and Y2D...The company and players are moving forward. Evolving. There is nothing wrong with that. BP said that the original JP will still be available, so I don't understand why there is all the whining( I know most of the responces have been positive) but what is wrong with moving forward?
