I couldn't resist this package either, I placed an order this morning with Pete for a Reflex with a hard tail trem and maple fretboard. The trans blue over mahogany is killer, I love the way it looks on my Bali Blue Luke.

Holy smokes AJ! That's killer.
Can I request the wood sample on e you're done with it? :) :)

Seriously though, I'd love a BFR Luke III with that kind of top.

Wow, that is one of the nicest quilts I've ever seen. Neptune Blue looks beautiful. Thanks, AJ!

I really didn't need to see this!!! Is the Axis going to have a black back or will it be color matched like the 2012 Honey roasted PDN...

I hate you AJ, I hate you AJ, I hate you AJ, I really didn't want to have to justify another guitar purchase to her... Arg!

Also, is there any difference between the Axis and BFR axis on this run... Other than picking quilt/flame on the BFR?

Doesn't that come with a figured top? I always thought a trans finish would…

No, reflex guitars have a plain maple cap. Only that GC special run had figured tops. Would be ordering a reflex if it had a quilt top like AJ's sample! Axis or BFR AL....

Did I mention that my wife is mad at me now AJ?

this color looks great on a quiltmaple top!

AJ, which color would the PUPs have on a Y2D? black or purple colored?
and are there any updates on the fretboard wood on the Y2D? roasted maple fretboard on a Y2D would look killer.

Like Stratty said, the Reflex will have the plain maple top and that's not a problem at all. I wanted it more for the switching options and neck carve over a regular axis SS. I was referring to the trans blue over the mahogany back, once I found out it was getting that instead of the opaque black it was a no brainer.

Really trying to resist this run. I may jump on it...but the LIII might be a casualty. I'm thinking of getting the LIII in this package and thus I never part with my LIII, just get the better model.

Yeah, you'll still get better figured woods, pearl inlays, G&G case, BFR back plate with the BFR

Normally they'd be black but you could go purple if you want. Just make sure the dealer knows when you order it that you specifically want purple pickups.

Thanks for the answers!

three more questions to AJ:
1. will this finish also come with a matching headstock?
2. is the maple fretboard also roasted maple or is only the neck roasted maple?
3. a JP7 in this finish would come with a mahogany body? or are there other options for the body-wood on a JP7 Neptune Blue?

Thanks!
Lars

I don't think you can get color matched on roasted maple... And AJ already mentioned the neck and Fretbored will be roasted

ah, ok, sorry, I missed that. Thanks.
I guess if the fretboard and the headstock are both roasted maple, that would probably look even better than a matching headstock.....I'm sooo very close to placing my order on one of these......heeeeelp!

1) Negative
2) Both are roasted
3) JP7 would be all mahogany. BFR JP7 would have a maple top and mahogany body.

I hope this helps clear it up!

Thanks a lot AJ!

so, in this case the headstock would be the same wood as the fretboard, and wold be 'matching the fretboard' so to say, like on the Bongo bass that's on the flyer/pic about the PDN Neptune Blue run?
