Welcome to Day 2 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Hi all! Thanks for the kind words and comments on yesterday's NYNGD #2019-1!

If you're not familiar or didn't stop by yesterday, here's what this is all about: Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day as we ring in 2019! Standard caveat: In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. My answer is here!

Alright... shut the heck up Jeff and let's get going with the next guitar!

Today's guitar is a 1998 Luke II in Luke Blue, but what sets this apart from standard Luke II's is that the stock EMG pickups have been ditched in favor of analog (no preamp, no buffer) goodness. The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio Axis/EVH bridge pickup, and the single coils are DiMarzio True Velvets. The tone knob features a push/push coil split on the bridge humbucker, so this guitar can do Strat sounds all day long, but then you kick in that bridge humbucker and you're on Cloud Nine!

I'll be back tomorrow with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day!

Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

Pure player guitar! I love it!

Congrats on a nice find! Too bad about the Zebra pickup an all black would have been perfect but those are quite rare to find.

Really nice. You don't see many passive conversions. When I had one, I couldn't quite bring myself to do it.

Gorgeous! Not so for the asthaetics (imo), but for that bridge humbucker in THAT guitar. MUST sound good ;-)
