Welcome to Day 4 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on yesterday's NYNGD #2019-3!

Today's guitar is my second Cutlass -- as you'll recall, in 2017 I got a custom Cutlass SSS in Diamond Blue and that guitar has been a big deal for me because it of course has the build quality, awesome neck, and great sounds we all expect from an EBMM, but it's what's different that blew me away: the SSS config, the larger body, larger headstock, etc. I had every reason to hate this guitar because it's not what I am used to from EBMM, but in fact those are all the reasons I fell in love! I have played things on that guitar that I have never even contemplated playing before!

So, when I saw the December 2018 BFR run with the Smoked Chrome Cutlass HSS, I had to go for it! Another triumph, although I do miss the single coil in the bridge position. But this guy has its own thing -- the bridge humbucker sounds great and the guitar has awesome tones!

I haven't gigged with this Cutlass yet, but it hangs around the studio and has been recorded on a few things. Just an awesome "modern classic"!

I'll be back tomorrow with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

That's such an interesting colour combo, plus the inlays. Looks amazing. And shame about that neck ...

Damn they just keep getting better and better, that neck is sick. I was just looking at these on Reverb earlier.

Congrats, Glenn |B)

The only thing MM could have done to make that guitar look better is if they’d put a light charcoal stain on the back of the neck. So sweet!

Yeah, I forgot to mention it in my little writeup. The neck is amazing on these. EBMM just continues to knock it out of the park!

And risk obscuring that roasted maple goodness? No way! I think the contrast is nice, too. I think black stain might make the guitar "too black" (if that makes sense).

That. Is. Incredible. I usually avoid "bling" guitars like the plague, as I'm afraid of messing them up, but those are SO tempting. If only I had infinite room and money.

Love the sparkle finish and neck on that one. Nice score!

That's a beautiful guitar. Love the finish and the neck is incredible. Also really like the block inlays on the neck. It works.
