Welcome to Day 9 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on #2019-8!

The addition of this gorgeous Majesty Artisan in Azzurro completes my Artisan collection -- I now have all five Artisans! While the Marrone is still my favorite, Azzurro's laid back vibe is pretty happening, too. I bought this guitar used and when it arrived I found that it has Tremelno installed -- a device that allows you to lock the trem on the fly. My first instinct was to ditch that aftermarket nonsense... and then I played with it. Wow... I could actually tune down to Drop-D on my Majesty without switching guitars?!? Interesting. I'll let you know what I decide!

I'll be back soon with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

Really classy combo with that colour and the gold hardware. That thing just looks built for speed (in a good way). Thanks for posting.

I love that color on the Artisan line. My first EBMM was an Artisan Nero 7 string. I originally want my first to be an Azzuro, but at that time, I was looking at a 4 month wait from Sweetwater as opposed to 6 weeks for the Nero.

That's really understated, and beautiful. The gold truss rod cover is a classy detail.

Jeff- I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the Tremol-no when you've played with it for a while. I've been debating getting one as well. (Or just setting things up for down only.)

Every time I see a "satin" "matte" or other guitar like that, all I can think of is "man that would look so much better in gloss".

It's a beautiful instrument, but man it would be better in gloss.

I was never a huge fan of the Artisan series, but that one would have changed my mind. Very nice.

It's interesting. Really seems to be well built / well engineered. One negative is that the piece that replaces the stock spring claw sticks out the back of the body so the backplate doesn't go on and the Tremel-no is sticking into my fat belly. It's not a big deal because it's rounded and smooth, and it doesn't impact the trem stability or tuning, but not ideal. Not sure if I could just do something to make the install better (like maybe the previous owner used the existing trem claw screw holes but could have opted to make new holes and the Tremel-no would sit deeper in the route? Not sure...

In the next couple days I'll take some photos of the install... And maybe record a video so you guys can see how it works and how stable it is.

I’m still working on assembling my Axis Tribute set. Nice to see you were able to put another set together, Jeff! I’m jelly!

I’m now going to admit something...

I have never played a Majesty.

There. I said it.

I've heard this concern elsewhere. I suppose the thing to do would be route some holes in the backplate, so the little knobs are flush with the surface (or slightly below). But it seems like a whole thing.

Well, but it's not only the little knobs that stick out. It's the trem claw thingy. I'll send a photo or video this weekend.
