Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, everyone! Welcome to Day 1 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

OK, guys and girls (...are there any women here? If so, welcome! Let us know you're here below!). Off we go on what has become an annual tradition! Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day as we ring in 2022! Unfortunately, I'm getting a late start this year -- I should have started on December 16th in order to launch one guitar per day until the grand finale on New Year's Eve! SLACKER! But better late than never!

Before we begin: In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!

Even though I set out to roll easy this year, GAS took hold as always and I again bought too many guitars. Some new, some used, all EBMM!

This year's first guitar gets us off to a good start! A Cutlass BFR Floyd HSS Bull Head from the July 2021 BFR Run. Man, this thing is right up my alley! Floyd Rose till death! (If only it were floating!). Mind-blowing roasted maple neck. CHECK! Sleek black hardware. YEP! Stunning blue sparkle -- this finish is a mystery to a non-professional photographer like me. My photo lighting is tungsten, and under tungsten (or most incandescent) light, this guitar takes on a green-ish tint. But in daylight, it's bright aqua blue. I had a real hard time color correcting it from the tungsten hue to the proper blue... but this is pretty close.

So.. how's it sound?!? Pretty awesome. I love the pickup layout in this guitar because the bridge humbucker is an Axis/EVH bridge (and we all know what that pickup can do) but then the single coils let you get that position #4 on the switch for awesome clean chords and quacky leads. And, of course, the roasted EBMM neck welcomes you like an old friend.

There you go, folks! Another guitar coming tomorrow!

Past Days:
The new EBMM message board limits the number of characters in a post so I can't put a list of direct links in the post. Click here for an index.

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. :) The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

In all the times I checked out that guitar, I never put together that it had the Axis pup in the bridge. I love the Cutlass and I love the Axis so its good to know a quasi-hybrid exists! Thanks!

If this guitar had had a vintage trem or hardtail, I'd have bought one. Between the pickups and the finish, oh yeah. I just realized that I'm not ever going to be a Floyd guy no matter how much I keep trying. :)

Great start to NYNGD!

Great photos ! I imagine how hard it was to capture such a finish.
It's funny to see how the Floyd Rose is coming back from its grave.

Floyd Rose in the grave? I'm not sure that's accurate. Ibanez alone makes about 50,000 Floyd Rose equipped guitars a year...
