Still no word from Bass Emporium on my Bongo 5H. I'm beginning to wonder if they actually called in the order on July 14th when I put down my $500 deposit.:(

DD2 Bongo 5HHp in the house!

Everything you've read about the color being hard to describe - heck even to photograph - ...all true. What I CAN say is holy crap - what a beautiful instrument. I've never seen anything like it! Pics to follow.

Cool - I am going to drive right past there this morning. I will have to stop in a see it since mine won't be here until Monday or Tuesday.

Went to Drum City - met the owner - he said he would beat TBP prices to do business with him (Brandt - you still have my business - for now!) but the Big Al DDII was not out of the box yet. He said he could get it but wanted to take pictures first. Wanted me to wait 20 minutes. I had to be somewhere - so I said thanks and left. Didn't get to see it - so I guess I will have to wait until mine is delivered!

OK, here are some crude attempts at capturing the Dargie II finish on my new Bongo 5 HHp. For those wondering what the finish looks like in person, this should only further confuse you. Crazy stuff happened indoors (especially when using a flash), so I took it outside - good light, cloudy day. I'll post a few to give a taste of the range of colors. This is one magnificent instrument...played @ church today - got raves on both looks and sound -plays like a dream!! Gotta love it!

BP & Co.: THANKS for such craftsmanship and one amazing bass! It plays and sounds every bit as great as it looks! From the finish color to the ebony fret board and inlays...simply outstanding. You guys HAVE to be so proud of these!

Thanks also to Brandt @ TPB for making it happen!!

Enjoy (I sure am)!

Very nice Zippydog, great color shift pics. I wonder how many Bongo fives were made in DD2? I think there were six or seven from the forum, these could be pretty rare.

Thx, Markbass! I think your color shift pics from your other post/thread here are still by far the most dramatic I've seen - awesome wall-o-basses as well, BTW!!

Hoping we'll get word eventually on how many DD2 basses got made and in what config. I was debating starting a poll to take the work off the good people of EB, but the vast possibilities of variations stopped me - also a poll would likely only grab orders to members here vs. any orders to stores. I do know there was a post earlier from a guy in Minneapolis (id = "iamcatwarrior") who got the very same config. as me (Bongo 5HHp). I'm sure we'll find out in due course. Meanwhile...enjoy that new Bongo 5!!

I forgot to mention in an earlier post that the neck plate on my DD2 has "Limited Edition" stamped in the metal. This appears to be the same plate that's on my Blue Dawn also. My Rosewood BFR Bongo neck plate says "Custom Made" stamped in the metal.
